How did SOJ's (Stone Ring of Jordan) become the unit of currency back in Diablo 2? Posted: 13 Sep 2020 09:06 PM PDT Yeah, I know, random ass question. But I played Diablo 2 back when I was a kid. When I first got the SoJ, I was like "holy shit this is sweet!" and the truth is...it actually was a pretty sweet item. But how the f did this specific unique ring become THE unit of currency in that game? I could never understand and it was kind of annoying how it became harder and harder to trade as people started asking for "10 SoJ's for this armour bitch" and I only ever got one for one of my character. It was really stupid how that one unique ring of power somehow became so common and used as a form of currency back then. So how did it become the currency that it was? I remember the SOJ situation got so bad Blizzard even made the "Uber Diablo" system that required players to dump hundreds of SOJ's in order for him to spawn. In fact in the chat there's always that "X number of SOJs have been sold" or something like that. [link] [comments]

The neverending trading/no-trading discussion: can't we move forward? Posted: 13 Sep 2020 04:45 PM PDT Hello fellas. Whenever this sensitive topic is discussed, it always ends with some part trying to alienate the other, accusations of cheating and real money making. Couldn't we make it civil and accept there're 2 different kind of players? Wanting trading doesn't neccesarily mean that you run a real money shop. Wanting an enviroment without Pay2Win is also legit. Could we put ourselves on other's feet? Could we stop that "my way or highway" moronism? Can we please discuss avoiding the neverending phallacias/obvius loopholes? No, trading doesn't neccesarily mean AH. No, you haven't discovered the 3rd party sites, we all know about them. No you haven't discovered the new dudes getting showered with items by other players (so killing the main point of playing the game). Let's advance and not get always stuck at these points. Whomever wants trading, wants it despite those things, so instead of bringing the obvious, try to behave constructively and propose a solution (inb4 remove all trading): be clan limits, binding after X trades, limit trades per week or month, mechanisms for evaluating items' values (in order to ensure that the trade is fair and not "a present"), league divisions of Trade/SSF, ... Whatever that's not just asking you "opponents" to knee after you. Be imaginative, and please, constructive. Thank you. [link] [comments]
