Looking for rune words that you could make?

    Posted: 12 Jan 2020 11:33 AM PST

I made a rune word tool. This tool will allow you to chose the runes you currently own and output a list of Rune Words you could make. Check it out here: https://metadiablo.com/runewordtool

Any constructive criticism or comments are welcome!

Fun facts: The Zod rune is only in a single rune word, Breath of the Dying.

If there are only Angels, Demons, and Nephalem, who are all the "gods" like Covetous Shen or the gods that the Monk worships?

    Posted: 12 Jan 2020 02:14 AM PST

So I get that that some of the "gods" like Bul-Kathos were really just powerful 1st-generation Nephalem, but what about people like Covetous Shen (and his pantheon)? Or the Witch Doctor's "spirits," etc.

D4: Would you prefer more or less waypoint density than in D3?

    Posted: 12 Jan 2020 09:40 AM PST

I've seen this issue arise in a different thread and I'm curious to know what's the general opinion. To compare, consider every one of the 5 zones of D4 will be aproximately as big as an D3 act.

My approach to this question is: it depends on the endgame difficulty and monster population.

Less waypoints would mean more traveling time from one place to another.

    • Pros of this: the feeling of open world would intensify, forcing you to use your mount more often. Considering we had a well balanced endgame difficulty and rewarding encounters along the way, moving from one place to another would become part of the endgame fun. Moreover: it would enforce the sense of being in an inhospitable and dangerous world where the further you get from civilization, the more perilous and lonelier the journey becomes.
    • Cons: this would become sensitive in case the endgame consist in repeated routines focused in very specific parts of the map. Forcing you to repeat the same route again and again in a fixed and not-random map would not benefit of a longer trip, unless the trip itself is interesting and rewarding (enough encounters, challenging difficulty, rewarding loot).

Considering that the open world will be fixed (dungeons will remain in the same place) and that mounts are a thing, I don't think we need a particularly high density of waypoints. This will also depend on the nature of engame activities the game will offer.

As well, based on what was said during the Blizzcon, there will be around 100 towns/camps around the map. So, for a deeper immersion, it would make sense we only had waypoints in those places and not out in the wilderness. After all, D4 is not as linear as D3 is, meaning that strategically placed waypoints would cover a bigger surface of the map.

Should I be farming countess now?

    Posted: 12 Jan 2020 08:49 AM PST

I'm playing as a fire Druid on normal trying to do my first play through of the game and I'm unsure as to whether or not I should be doing countess runs for the runes and gear she drops or not. I'm on normal difficulty so it's not like I'm getting anything amazing but I figured that if I get the right runes I get a nice piece of armor runeword or weapon. Should I just progress to the end of the act and move on from it or stay a little longer til I get something decent? My gear isn't too great but I'm still strong enough to do it fairly fast.

    Some questions about Diablo 3

    Posted: 12 Jan 2020 06:21 AM PST

So I'm thinking of getting the game but have a few questions. What exactly is the endgame in D3? I know in path of exile they have an atlas with maps you try to complete and some other league based mechanics, is it similar in D3? What do they have each season as the changing mechanism?Lastly, do you have to replay through the entire story each time you make a new character? That was a bit of a turn-off for me with PoE. If you do have to play through it each time, how long does it roughly take to reach the end game each time
