I’m dumb and didn’t realize that the mythology I’d Diablo is creatively adapted from the Dead Sea scrolls

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 04:34 PM PDT

I stupidly thought someone at Blizzard was just a boss when it came to naming everything

edit: idk why there's an "I'd" in title (I did write this on my phone)

The art team is nailing it with the models. Please, don't mess it with the skill effects now.

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 06:25 AM PDT

Last quarterly update was fantastic. The game is looking gogeous, detailed, grounded, without sacrificing it own dose of artistic style and design. Looks different from any other diablo game, and it
    still feels Diablo.

Now, I'm not asking "make it similar to D2R" since the they doesn't share the same artistic approach. But D2R artists made a great demonstration that good visual effects can look realistic and grounded when they are not excessive, even when summoning meteors, frozen orbs or poison novas.

Also, sometimes, a barbarian skill consisting on cleaving with a sword looks much better with a simple but solid cleave animation, without the need of big shinning red trails following the blade. Looks more grounded, and leaves room for more epic skills to look epic. (Same applies to skills that consist on the Rogue firing regular bolts)

I just hope all of this will follow the same path of the already shown and fairly praised work of character and enemy art.

Keep up the great work. I can't wait to behold all these models and environments in my own PC once this jewel releases.

Regarding the possibility of D2R crossplay ..

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 09:40 PM PDT

I know we're kind of in the "not happening" zone at the moment (unless I missed any news), but I was wondering if any of the developers have made comments that it's a possibility, or if they're working on it?

All of my friends use PC and I'm a ps4 player, so I'm cautiously optimistic. I'm not sure if it's worth the purchase if I'll be playing alone a lot.

    Diablo 2 Resurrected: Language options

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 09:31 PM PDT

Hey guys, just a simple question in regards of D2R.

I've heard that there are language options outside English one. My question is, does it just change the texts, or even the spoken language will be dubbed in foreign language?

Any good clan channels to hang out in for ladder chaos and baal runs?

Wondering if anyone knows of any?

Will the Barbarian Arsenal System in Diablo 4 force me to use blunt, axe, and sword weapons, or could I theoretically only use one and two-handed axes, or only use swords, etc.?

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 08:08 PM PDT

In all the gameplay I've seen, the Barb has a one-handed blunt, two-handed blunt, one-handed axe, and two-handed greatsword. I get that it's only demo footage, but if I only want to focus on one type of weapon—for example, I want to be an axeman—will the game force a greatsword slot on me, hammer slot on me, etc.?

Why aren't Ethereal weapons a thing outside of S24?

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 07:49 PM PDT

Non-seasonal players have no new content to grind for. Why won't the Ethereal weapons transfer over and be a permanent thing outside of S24?!?

An old Gem in Diablo 3

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 12:28 PM PDT

On Xbox One Diablo 3 I was playing online and a stranger gave me a gem called "Envy" it gave a stat that for an example would give 20 levels per kill. I believe it was changed in a patch to the Gem of Ease. Does anyone else know about this?

Easy fixes for common item stat display-related complaints

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 02:59 AM PDT

Although there are numerous issues already pointed out about D4s itemisation, there are two things that could very easily be fixable without upsetting anybody really. Those are:

-- the "attack" and "defense" main numbers on items

    and

-- the "slow" to "very fast" attack speed labeling on weapons

Both can be actually kept in the game as-is, as long as there would be an option to toggle displaying, i.e. damage range instead of "attack", and i.e. 1,2 aps (attacks per second) instead of "slow attack speed".

There are probably numerous examples of similar things that could simply be options in the menu, and thus make both Blizz (the default values would be friendly to new players), as well as the more enthusiast community happy.

It's been a while since we last heard/read a word on itemisation, and given the sweeping changes they made in the last blog post discussing it, I don't know if they already implemented the discussed options above. But then again, they seem to listen a bit to the community this time around, so who knows...

    Thoughts?

Holy Shit D2 looks sooooo bad (Let me explain)

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 06:56 PM PDT

Ok so I have only experienced D2 on either a CRT monitor (Back in the day) or various 13 inch laptop monitors. I recently built my PC (in preparation for D2R) and couldn't resist the urge to play d2 any longer. So I downloaded it, set up plugy, and saw it for the first time on a 27inch 1440p 144hz display and it looks so bad its unplayable. In windowed mode it is sooooo small too that I'd have to squint.

D2 is my favorite game and I literally cannot wait for D2R.

    Proud(?) noob moment in D3

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 09:07 AM PDT

Just a silly post for y'all. I just hit level 70 for the first time a couple hours ago, on my wizard. I'd been playing adventure mode on expert difficulty and enjoyed blasting through mobs before they could hurt me. My play style is very much noob + templar. I also play exclusively on a Switch Lite, just to add to the image.

First thing I wanted to try at 70 is a greater rift, which I found surprisingly challenging. After 38 minutes and with gear almost broken from dying I finished the damn thing, having kited elites and the rift guardian around constantly while whittling their health down painfully slowly.

I got back outside the rift to realise I had completed the rift at level 13 (torment 2)?! I had just picked the first greater rift option without realising it would stick me in the highest level for my character.

Anyway keen to drop the difficulty and actually complete some within 15 minutes this weekend 😂

Any other noob stories out there?

[Change my mind] it makes way more logic to have PC&console/mobile crossprogression for D2R than pc/console

    Posted: 09 Jul 2021 07:42 AM PDT

A pc and consoles are primary game plateforms while a mobile in this context is a secondary medium

If you have access to both your pc/console and your mobile, you are most certainly gonna play on your pc/console

Console/pc cross progression doesn't make sense since both are primary plateforms, the switch being the exception to this because of its mobility. But it's dumb to have this "on the go/away from home" playability gated behind a switch when it could be easily done on mobile. If you have access to both a pc and a console, pretty sure you will play Diablo 2 on a pc, it's way more convenient for lots of gameplay things

    ———————

    i got questions for you

    1) if you have both pc and console at home, which one are you more likely to play Diablo 2 on, at which ratio

2)if D2R came out on mobile as well, would you play it on mobile when Away from your primary platform?

    ————————

Disclaimer: I'm not saying that it shouldn't be on console, just that crossprogression makes sense in a primary/secondary context not a primary/primary
