Quest Item Concepts - Diablo II Fan Remake

    Posted: 02 Mar 2021 09:13 AM PST

First time D2 player, just got to act 2 and damn... this game is amazingly fun.

    Posted: 02 Mar 2021 09:21 AM PST

I've played PoE for years and played D3 in the past for years but D2 is oddly perfect. I cant put my finger on it. Its like everything is boiled down to what an ARPG should be. There's no waste, with the right amount of complexity.

I'm playing a Necro summon build (just making it up as I go, for now) and I love the pace of combat. Everything feels weighty and 'important', if that makes any sense. Every rare group of mobs is a treat, unlike PoE where you blast past them in a second. The loot is satisfying to recieve, charms especially. I've been looking in to runewords and noticed the countess drops them, so I've been enjoying doing a few runs to see what kind of things I make with em.

I cant believe I waited this long to have a good go at D2. I'll be playing right up until D2R releases.

    /r/diablo_2_ressurected is a scam

    Posted: 02 Mar 2021 07:29 AM PST

Nobody give this dude your time. The pinned post is about an "alpha key giveaway" blizzard has never given out alpha keys as long as I can remember. I was banned for pointing this out. The guy who made it is just trying to trick people into giving him traffic.

Edit: apparently i can't spell. It's actually /r/diablo_2_resurrected. Also, i feel like scam maybe isn't the right word for it. Maybe scummy would be better. Idk it just irritated me and i thought I'd share so people don't see it and believe what the dude who made that sub says.

[D2:R] Eternal Conflict of QoL: Charms

    Posted: 01 Mar 2021 11:06 PM PST

Since opinion of development team is clear:

Lena says the door is open for things like balance changes to help keep the game vibrant for a modern community – if, indeed, players indicate that they actually want that to happen.

    Source

I feel that have to fight for the game that i love to ensure that it won't once again rot by opinions of few.

Diablo 2 is the game that defined the genre and practically invented stat min maxing. ARPG genre is perceived as genre about pursuit of power because of Diablo 2. This means that player that got enough resources to achieve perfection of his character should be rewarded rather than massively penalized.

Because of this, i personally and many other, feel that one of main issues that deprive player of enjoyful game experience is the current charm system. In order to achieve character perfection players have to fully fill their inventory with charms leaving no space for anything other than charms. Because of this player has only two options left when it comes to any loot drops: either to relog to mule sorc, teleport all the way back to the place where loot dropped then log main character again to continue that run or to just ignore ANYTHING that drops(and we all know this one isn't really an option).

This irritating issue can be solved by rather simple quality of life change - adding a separate charm inventory in a similar fashion as shared stash was already implemented. Both of mentioned features serve the same goal of allowing players to play the game instead of constantly hopping around to mules every few minutes. Additionally, not all players may know or have experience with this current mule magic meta that goes on.

Foremost, implementing this feature won't affect in any way current class or spec balance in PVE/PVM. PVP is irrelevant because the game was never balanced around it. The way the game is played will stay the same, but will become a more comfortable for any player be it hardcore player with 20 years of experience or a new casual player that wants to try Diablo 2 for the first time.

Lastly, original Diablo 2: LOD isn't going anywhere and anyone who wants to have EXACTLY THE SAME experience will still be able to play it WITHOUT ANY changes that already announced and will be implemented for Resurrected

    TL;DR:

Great game can become even better.

    Let people collect loot.

    Implement charm inventory.

Diablo IV Wallpaper Hells Gate - 4K Upscale and Enhanced

    Posted: 02 Mar 2021 01:59 PM PST

Its time for another wallpaper, this time Hells gate as being requested by others in my previous wallpaper threads!

It was hard finding a good screenshot to begin with for this wallpaper. Its been adjusted ALOT to get better resolution and quality. May make some adjustment still.

    Hope you enjoy it!

    Preview: https://i.imgur.com/3UIOmOd.png

Video preview (not in 4K): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ti9m7k2JDL0

    Comparison from original: https://i.imgur.com/zrUa8GF.png

*Note that video isn't in 4K and is compressed, the real thing has higher quality!

Upscaled to 4K and AI Enhanced by me from 1080p with superior quality.

This is working for all resolutions, 1080p and everything that i know. Even if not running 4K monitor it has huge quality benefit.

*Note: This is for Wallpaper Engine

I took my time and played the Diablo 3 campaign like a Black Isle RPG - It held up great

    Posted: 02 Mar 2021 04:29 PM PST

I just finished a play through of the Diablo 3 campaign making sure to search the entire map and listen to all the optional dialogue.

I realize it's hyperbole because you can't play it like a Black Isle RPG. My memories of playing them are making sure to methodically uncover the map, do all the quests and talk to everyone.

    That's what I did.

I was so very thoroughly impressed and I feel I initially did this game a disservice.

Act 1 + 2 are masterpieces in my opinion. Yes it's pulpy, yes the story is B level fun. But it is just that, fun!

Act 2 especially feels like a city when you listen to the citizens, the art itself as well establishes it as a real place despite the small game area of the cities.

Playing Act 5 also felt like a little bit of a return to form with the storytelling. The myriad of little quest rooms scattered about the place really flesh out the world and city.

I would suggest to anyone to put this on a replay list and take their time with it. It is very rewarding in both fun story moments and of course gear.

My one question is that Blizzard has added a lot to the game, so what are some of the little lore and story tidbits I may have missed? I know there's a few new areas but really not sure what they contain etc.

Would love to have a guide for all the content added after Reaper of Souls was finished.

    Spoilers below

My favorite bit is probably the story of the dude in Act 1 that has is sick wife in the cellar.

The usurping of the guy trying to take the crown in Act 5 is also great.

Also I discovered that there are follower quests, who would have thought? The Templar Kormac ends up becoming just like the homicidal maniac he just killed, it's great.

What are some of the quests you really enjoyed?

    D2R Modding - Diablo 2 World Editor

    Posted: 02 Mar 2021 07:23 PM PST

(Apart from the fact that D2 is a genre-defining masterpiece)

"One of the biggest reasons why the original Diablo II has continued to remain relevant over the past two decades is because of the game's constant support via fan-made mods. Like many other Blizzard Entertainment games, mods have been a backbone for Diablo II, especially when it comes to replayability. With the advent of Diablo 2: Resurrected now coming about later this year, Blizzard has confirmed that the remaster will very much be ripe for modding once again." see full article

A complete modding tool at least of the scope of the Warcraft 3 World Editor would be incredible not only for D2R but also for the Diablo franchise as a whole.

    [Diablo 4] Death system

    Posted: 02 Mar 2021 12:49 PM PST

I know there has always been huge discussions around the death system in hack'n slash games. Especially for diablo games where death could be rough in D2 and entirely meaningless in D3.

I have to say i don't understand why there is so much debate around it: having a death system like D3 remove all the fear you could get from exploring catacombs. Even if the atmosphere is super dark and gothic, you'll never experience what made D2 so great if dying means just waiting 10s for your character to respawn fully operational. To me, having the lighting zone as well as a terrible penalty when dying is a must have if devs want players to experience again the D2 atmosphere.

What's your opinion on this ? Isn't the atmosphere more influenced by the death system rather than the dark & gore effects ? D3 has some areas pretty gore yet i bet no one had an experience on D3 that look like being against Travincial champs in D2.

Need help finding Diablo 3 cutscene

    Posted: 02 Mar 2021 10:54 PM PST

It's the one where Tyrael says something along the lines of "The High Heavens tremble... they are helpless against Diablo's assault" - that's a paraphrase, but it was something like that.

I've looked through Diablo 3 cutscene compilations on YouTube but can't seem to find it anywhere. I just need the audio for a small, useless project I'm working on. I appreciate any help!

    This place hurts my head

    Posted: 02 Mar 2021 10:43 PM PST

I wonder how many of ya'll were even around in the early 2000's on Bnet playing Diablo 2.

I see arguments for the dumbest shit in the world here. Removing Hell immunities becaue you're a noob that specced a single element without a backup plan? Jesus, back in the day we dealt with immune mobs / bosses with static field and a merc, stfu.

People asking for Enigma to be removed? GTFO. Do you know how much more fun the game became when any class could teleport and shout Battle Orders?

People on here crying about bots. Do you understand nothing? From Blizzards POV many bots look the same as real players. It is I M P O S S I B L E to stop them and it doesn't take a computer science degree to understand that. There will be bots in D2R and the economy will be balanced around that.

How many of you reading this ever tried open Bnet? How manyof you ever did level 90+ PVP on the slash diablo realm? How many of you solo'd through Median XL? Ya'll sound like a bunch of noobs that don't know an Oculus from a Grandfather.

    The Zon Killer

    Posted: 02 Mar 2021 10:32 PM PST

I cut my teeth on Diablo 2. Played it before any other game in the series

Started out on patch 1.07 with a single player Necromancer. Moved to online play with a Barb and Sorc, spending the most time in patch 1.09, when .08 shakos started demanding a premium for their HP increase.

After getting bored with those classes I tried the new Assassin class. I always liked Natalya.

Patch 1.09 was the last one prior to synergies. There were a lot of bugged items out right before 1.10 dropped with its "rust storm" that deleted most of the bugged items.

Amazons were notorious in PVP rooms at this point. Seemed everyone had maxed guided arrow and a bugged 6 socket Windforce.

I started a new Assassin with a single purpose. To fuck up any and all Amazons in PVP rooms.

I decked it out in the best gear 1.09 offered. B Valor, "Ith" Claws, and tons of 3/20/20's. I built the skills and stats around taking out Amazons as fast as possible.

It was an easy hunt. Lay some Wake of Fire traps for their stun. Dragon Flight in to close distance. Mind Blast to stun lock, alternating with Tiger Strike to build a full charge for the one hit KO.

    I was unstoppable. I was a beast.

Decades later, I will be back.

    Amazons beware.

    D2R keybind system

    Posted: 02 Mar 2021 02:06 PM PST

I really hope more modern keybind system will be implemented as an option. Original D2 system with two clicks and selectable skills is outdated and very clunky.

To be honest, that would be best QOL improvement for me.

Skill rebalance and Rework for D2:R?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2021 05:41 PM PST

I know some purists wont want it but having rebalance and reworks would be awesome

Sure you can consider this game as a Remaster, but a remaster of which Version of the game?

I think the best approach would be for it to be a Remaster Graphically but a continuity of the versions

So D2:R would be like Version 2.0

Keep in mind that Significant patches like 1.10 rebalanced skills and items, best example is Synergies, they werent a thing before that. D2:R could/should be the same

It would be so awesome to have some old skills be viablo for once. Barb Throwing skills, Amazon's ele bow or Psn Javs, Sin's blade skills, Druid's fireskills, etc

    Spelling in Trang-oul?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2021 09:19 PM PST

    Hey,

I've always known the title post/character as Trang-Oul. I'm a stickler for detail but also read things wrong, a great example was the food item in WoW 'Dalaran Sharp' which I always read as 'Dalaran Snap' as it looked like a cookie/buscuit, which snap?

Anyway, is it Trang-Oul or Trag'Oul? All pre-2016 videos support Trang-Oul, but D3 introduces Trag'Oul. WTF?! Please help my OCD!
