Diablo Vanilla D3 (do you remember?)

Diablo Vanilla D3 (do you remember?)

    Vanilla D3 (do you remember?)

    Posted: 17 Jul 2020 01:19 PM PDT

Posted this on the official forums and posting it here now, after I saw people mentioning things from vanilla in another thread.

In no particular order, before patch 2.0 (Reaper of Souls pre-patch).

    Do you remember…

    • Obtaining 5 stacks of Nephalem Valor before doing anything? Then recall the stacks falling off whenever you changed a skill or accidentally moving a skill?
    • Item Levels for items? Particularly, Act's 3 & 4 having the best chance of dropping iLvl 63 items?
    • When paragons were added and maxed at 100? Each level added primary stats, 3% magic find and 3% gold find.
    • Magic Find and its cap at 300%? And how it was incentivized for every player in the party to wear it, as it averaged out on every player?
    • The Auction House and the Real Money auction house? Remember the trick to cancel an auction by changing the date/time on your computer?
    • Acts 2, 3 & 4 being nearly impossible (damage in inferno was extremely higher for these acts).
    • The paradox of needing Inferno Act 3/4 items to beat Inferno Act 2?
    • Monsters were able to be kited into Town?
    • When attack speed on weapons and armor were reduced by 50%? Some could roll up to 18% on a single item.
    • When Pick-up radius could roll 5-7 on a single item?
    • Repair costs actually costing a lot of gold? (do you remember when gold was actually worth something?)
    • When bosses would enrage or elites would regenerate their health if not killed fast enough?
    • The affix, Invulnerable Minions? (an elite's minions could not be damaged/killed).
    • Life steal on weapons? And how overpowered it was at staying alive?
    • When "Black weapons" were ideal/best?
    • Monsters Powers 0-10?
    • How a lot of rare (yellow) items were superior to legendary items?
    • How insane the Reflects Damage affix on monsters was with fast attacking builds?
    • When dyes were added, but certain colors were randomly sold from different vendors?
    • When Marquise Gems are added, had to find the plans from random monsters, were extremely expensive to craft and looked completely different from today's look?
    • How near-impossible it was to craft a decent hellfire ring?
    • How long it took to craft a hellfire ring (acquire the infernal machine plans, kill the guardians for their keys, craft an infernal machine using the keys, use the machines to fight the bosses, acquire the organs to craft a single ring).
    • When "brawls" were added (likely to appease the fact that Blizzard "promised" PvP).
    • When you could only craft a single gem at a time?
    • When you needed to level up your followers? (their levels did not level up with you exactly).
    • When there were several tiers of crafting materials, depending on your level?
    • When Wizard's had the "critical mass" passive?
    • When you needed to collect/buy health potions?
    • Farming the wretched mothers in the crypts for easier experience?
    • How hard it was to see or hear molten going off?
    • When Manticore could have 2 sockets?
    • When Monks with the "One with Everything Passive" and you wanted to get the same single resist on every piece of gear?
    • The affix, 'Vampiric' on elites and it stealing life?
    • Wizards with a poison hydra?
    • Witch Doctors using Zombie Bears and later Firebats?

    To all the Devs

    Posted: 17 Jul 2020 05:18 AM PDT

Thanks for this great game, for real. I sadly picked it up WAY too late.

But: HOW IN HELL IS THERE NO AUTO LOOT FOR DEATH BREATHS/FARMING MATERIALS LMAO

I mean.. this is THE ARPG and there is already a pet that collects Gold, but not the mentioned items above? They don't even take up inventory space c'mon. Instead of lazy season buffs like this season, give us a nice QoL update instead next season.

Now I can keep on finishing my impale DH, love it so much! And I know GoD DH shall be even better and I will try it next.

    Some Monk Questions

    Posted: 17 Jul 2020 01:51 PM PDT

Hi all, a few questions. I looked a bit but did not find exact answers that I am looking for

    1. For PoJ Tempest Rush, is there any IAS breakpoint? I don't think there should be, but wouldn't be surprised if there is a hidden mechanic that I am unaware of.
    2. I have been using Dashing Strike in a PoJ TR build in GR100 speed runs and notice that it fails a lot for some reason. Normally, 1-2 charges would just be spent and I would just dash in place, despite the fact that my cursor was clearly in a place that can be teleported to (sometimes just a few yards down a straight hallway with no obstacles). I have not been able to reproduce this result consistently so am at a loss of what is causing it and how to avoid it.
    3. I guess this is more of a preference question, but at higher rifts (I'd say GR120+ right now? I'm currently at 118 with BotP as my 3rd gem inside a Hellfire with Relentless Strike) what would be the optimal gem choice? I've noticed a lot of people going for Squire + Guzzard which I assume is for a good round of burst damage, especially when the 4 second window lines up perfectly with Ascension, but have also noticed a lot of Flavor (most of them are really good ones; i don't have one myself) and Stricken.

    Question?

    Posted: 17 Jul 2020 06:27 PM PDT

I just found my old keys to diablo 2, and the expansion. I downloaded the games and registered them. But, is there a way to add them to the new battle.net launcher? Or does that not exist?

Why was there never a stat to reduce curses on you?

    Posted: 17 Jul 2020 08:50 AM PDT

I realize the cleanse pally aura reduces curse duration, but that is more or less an obsolete skill. Should there be an item stat we can have to get this effect?

'Cannot be frozen' is a must have stat for a lot of builds as being frozen slows you down a ton.

There are other similar stats like:

    reduce frozen time by half

    reduce poison length by 25%

    elemental absorb

But there is no way to stop being crapped on by Baal constantly getting decrepified.* (see first line)

    Can't we have states like:

    immune to curses

reduce curse time or effectiveness by 50%

I wonder if there will be similar debuffs in D4 that are not mitigable. Maybe that's a good thing that there is?

    Make Primals Great Again!

    Posted: 17 Jul 2020 12:30 PM PDT

Primal drops are great but many times we get something that we will never use and end up just taking space in the stash or salvaging for really nothing...

Could you guys (Diablo Developers) please make it at least worth while to Salvage useless Primals for something like 1,000 Forgotten Souls?

It takes so long to farm Forgotten Souls and they get eaten up at a super fast rate with some of the KC recipes...

This would make useless Primal drops at least semi-exciting in knowing that there is prospect in getting a ton of Salvage material in return...

Audio and text coupled/tied together in PC D3, but not Switch?

    Posted: 17 Jul 2020 11:33 AM PDT

I'm interested in playing D3 with an English interface and text, but a different language for the audio. I can do it with StarCraft II, Warcraft 3 Reforged, and WoW, but surprisingly not D3 on PC (the option for language adjusts it for both audio and interface at the same time).

Recently went to D3 on a Switch though, and it has the ability to do different options for the interface and audio languages (along with the language packs being available as free DLC). So I can keep the interface/text English, but use Chinese or Japanese for audio. I'm unsure if other consoles offer this option.

I don't expect it to be changed in any way for D3 on PC, but I would like this option to be available for D4 on PC. Is there a way to suggest this?

Anyone playing charge barb this season? Hows it fairing?

    Posted: 17 Jul 2020 12:27 AM PDT

I played the Raekor/IK mix set a couple seasons ago. I just got a primal Raekor chest and strongarm bracer from the same GR so I'm wondering if it's worth rebuilding that old set. Currently GR101 whirlrend.

Blizzard, in Diablo 4 please don't have any lines like "Vegetable bad, meat good!"...

    Posted: 17 Jul 2020 12:44 PM PDT

    Please no:

    • "this is killing business!" type puns

    • needless exposition like "i learned of this passage through old maps i found!"

    • bosses describing their evil plan like they're a saturday morning cartoon villain

i started playing the campaign again for the first time in years and i forgot how painful the writing is. please keep diablo 4's tone dark and uninviting.

Monk playing with DH looking for support build. D3

    Posted: 17 Jul 2020 12:33 AM PDT

I'm playing a monk. Just looking for a support build that can keep up with the insane movement of a DH. We get to GR50. But passed that we don't have enough survival to go further. The DH damage is good for higher then 50. We just die to much.

I feel Diablo IV will be underwhelming without the addition of Raids.

    Posted: 17 Jul 2020 04:41 PM PDT

Alright, BEFORE you downvote- the title was supposed to grab your attention, hear me out here..

It's very clear whether you like it or not, D4 will be going towards the "games as a service" stance. Personally, i'm very excited for this and think its what the game needs to thrive now that things around us have changed quite a bit in video games. So while this won't be a discussion on whether or not having MMO elements in Diablo is a good or bad thing, this is a discussion on why I think they'll fall short unless we have some sort of raiding system in play for PvE content.

I feel the Diablo team is taking lots of elements from WoW and implementing them into their franchise, like mounts, world bosses, and keyed dungeons (basically M+). These are all GREAT additions to the game! If mounts work like WoW where there aren't many store mounts and you can farm areas/enemies for certain rare ones in your collection, thats awesome. More incentive to play. If world bosses drop some good rare gear or other cosmetic items to help push your DPS, amazing, something we can grind on the daily..but then what happens?

We wait for new world bosses to be patched in, get our BiS, and have nothing to do? More GRs? Keyed dungeons? Could you imagine if M+ was WoW's PvE endgame? It would get real bland, real fast.

When I think about D3 and the choices that were made to extend its livelihood (besides seasonal content), immediately I think about how it fell kind of short. We got RoS (which was amazing as an addition), and that's really about it. While the Necromancer pack was also great to have, it didn't really do much for the game. Where as, in my opinion, straight up adding a 10-16 player instance, dubbing it as a raid, having multiple encounters, requiring communication, and having that be the primary source of BiS for your class I feel would have people constantly coming back. I'm sure PvP in the game will have its own system, I fully expect them to just take what WoW does and cookie cutter it into the game, but if PvP has its own system/endgame, PvE needs one too.

We could get live changes to the open world, new raids patched in every couple months, more incentive to play than just rolling a seasonal character, and have way more than just 1 big expansion if D4 is truly planning on trying to thrive in today's market as a staple game.

I know everybody doesn't want change, and most people will just say to keep the current seasonal system for endgame content, but to be completely honest coming from someone who has logged around 3500 hours into D3, I think if they keep things the same people will just keep playing PoE. Not to mention botting makes GRs not very fun to grind out anyways and I think the system is kind of dated.

I also realize none of the above is solo friendly, and thats a big deal to a lot of people in the community..but the reality of it is the changes being made to the game are already not solo friendly. Its just the direction its going. I'd much rather accept that and hope its done right than complain about offline play. Again this is all my opinion, and a hypothetical discussion on what can be done to truly make D4 a good "service" based game with content we want to come back for.

Should a Raid system be implemented into the game? Would you be ok with just world bosses being patched in for "endgame" content? Should they just do seasons again and have us compete for GRs? What do you all think?

Back to D3 (PC version) vs. audio issues still around ?!

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 10:38 PM PDT

Hi Everyone! I'm back to Diablo 3 after looong years and the old issue with audio cutting in and out during busy fights is still happening?! I remember I've tried everything back then from audio driver update to change hardware, framerate fine-tuning back and forth, sound settings in like million ways ... no dice and I face the same issue today. Is there any way or tricky workaround available out there which would fix the stuttering/"cutting-out" problem?! I've heard maybe other apps (like Chrome, etc) running on the side might be the culprit?!

Please help, I try to be optimistic to believe in 2020 this is solved one way or the other?!?!

    Thank you!

    Casual player on new season.

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 10:36 PM PDT

I acquired The Traveler's Pledge for my level 64 Barbarian. After reading a couple of things, it seems like if I work to get the set, it will hurt me more than help me.

So what should I do with it?
