Diablo IV Quarterly Update - June 2020

    Posted: 25 Jun 2020 01:09 PM PDT

Unpopular opinion: The way the items are presented/shown currently are even more boring than D3's.

    Posted: 25 Jun 2020 07:16 PM PDT

Let me make something perfectly clear before I get attacked with the classic "HURR NOSTALGIA GLASSES DURR". While I prefer the tetris-style inventory with more zoomed-in items being more like D2's and Path of Exile's, I'm also open to new change, and I pray to the burning hells that you do not go with the current way the items look. It feels like you took D3's and downgraded it even further, making it look even more boring, and that my friends is quite an accomplishment.

The stats are looking fine so far, it's not about that. This is about the way the items look and are presented. They look too small, the artworks are somehow more bland than D3's. Make the item models bigger and add more details so I can try to appreciate the artist's work more.

Everything else looks great in the update. There's my 2 cents and my feedback. Have a great day.

    Critical Hits in Diablo 4

    Posted: 25 Jun 2020 05:24 PM PDT

The emphasis on Crit Chance and Crit damage on the items in the quarterly updates left a lot of people with some worries about D4 itemization.

Crit Chance/Damage were seriously undervalued as item mods in Diablo 3. Critical Hit is an extremely powerful mechanic, and it's very easy to improperly scale crit chance and crit damage item mods, and cause every melee/physical build to require maximum CC/CD values on all possible items and ruin build diversity. I believe the key to controlling CC/CD scaling and powercreep is to treat them both as the powerful and valuable item affixes that they are.

In Diablo 3, you could roll both CD/CC on most item types, and either CC or CD by themselves on others. The only item types you couldnt roll them on was boots, pants, and chest. In Diablo 2, Deadly Strike (Critical hit chance with crit damage locked at 200%) was an item affix that only appeared on certain unique and runeword items. Although it was a very powerful affix, it did not overpower other item affixes because it was one of the most rare item affixes in the game.

Ideally, in Diablo 4, CC and CD should not be able to both roll on the same item, and they should have a limited number of item types that they can roll on. In addition, rare items should roll lower CC/CD values, with specific legendary items rolling higher CC/CD values. I think, this way, critical hits can be controlled and not cause every item that doesn't roll it to be Vendor snacks.

Diablo 4 Update Details Its Open-World Multiplayer Areas

I think more skills should get the Singularity mage treatment

    Posted: 25 Jun 2020 08:23 AM PDT

I think the last update on Razeth's Volition is pretty cool as it opened the "1 best rune" to 3 different options of the skills and I think a lot of other skills can benefit from the same approach:

99% of the times where there is a rune that increase the damage of the skills it is best in slot (also limits you to using a certain element) and almost certainly all other runes fall behind, so I think it would be cool to have more items give that rune like: Blessed Hammer - Limitless Earthquake - Molten fury Exploding palm - Impending doom Rend - Lacerate, etc.

    Diablo 4 being online-only

    Posted: 25 Jun 2020 10:47 PM PDT

I'm starting to think that the reason Diablo 4, like Diablo 3 is going to be online-only is not because it will improve the quality of gameplay or anything, but more because of Activision-Blizzard's greed. They don't want the game to be pirated so they are making it online-only.

I would've loved to support the game and buy it when it launches, but I really don't like the idea of this "game-as-a-service" thing where as soon as the servers shut down for good, you can't play the game you bought anymore. Especially considering Diablo 1 and 2 were available for offline play and it's not some kind of novelty or something that's impossible to accomplish.

What if you go out into the mountains or someplace where you have no internet like camping or something and bring your laptop with you and you want to play some Diablo 4, but can't since there is no internet, but you still have a copy of the game?

What if 10 years later Activision-Blizzard decide that they no longer want Diablo 4 and shut the servers off and everyone who bought the game and loved it can't play anymore?

Diablo 1 and 2 are very much playable and people keep buying them despite how old they are simply because they can play them at any given time and place.

This is greed that goes beyond Denuvo and how it's meaninglessly eating system resources to prevent pirates from playing for free (hackers have removed Denuvo from some games and saw 30% reduce in system usage from the game). This is a new level of greed - to make it online-only, because you are so greedy you don't want pirates to play your game for free and in turn are screwing up the legitimate customers who would gladly pay for this game.

What are your thoughts about this, do you support the idea of online-only? I personally don't and am very against it and for this reason will not be buying Diablo 4, which really makes me unhappy.

Itemization for mounts in Diablo 4

    Posted: 25 Jun 2020 02:51 PM PDT

Lets disquss most important thing we read from todays quaterly update! Mounts and theirs customization!

I'm curious what kind of items will they have besides trophies? Horsecloth? Bridle? saddle?

Maybe event transmog for demonic horse or undead horse?

And will it be available via microtransactions? How do you think? Diablo 4 needs to have it if we want game to be alive and got lots of updates in the future.

PS. I'm not undermine quaterly update for sure. I love new camps mechanic, new storrytelling conversation mechanics but I have some worries about in-game cinematics. Still lots of good work we saw today, and can't wait for more!

Crazy idea for a seasonal theme

    Posted: 25 Jun 2020 12:21 PM PDT

I have no idea if it is even possible, but I think it would be super cool:

    Version 1:
6 piece set items can drop with random legendary powers from their respective slots (Helms with helm legendary powers, boots with boots legendary powers, rings - with ring powers, etc.)

I think it would be awesome to have:
    * Firebird or Tal Rasha's source with something actually useful (Triumvirate/Infinity Orb, etc.) or
    * Some super underused set rings like Nataya's or Zunnimassa with Elusive ring or Ring of Emptiness power or
*Cage of the Hellborn with Garwulf's power/Might of the Earth boots with Lut Socks power.

    Version 2
Class-specific legendary items can drop as parts of 6-piece sets (opening some slots to customize):
    * Girdle of Giants as part of Might of the Earth;
    * Johanna's Guard as part of the Seeker of the Light; * Primordial Soul as part of Tal Rasha's, etc.

    What so you guys think?

    Update broke my game

    Posted: 25 Jun 2020 05:13 AM PDT

Yesterday I finally got my wife this far to buy D3 eternal set on PC, we had enjoyed it on xbox but I prefer playing on my pc, so she wants to give it a shot. We got it, installed it and played through the campain once more. Today after the update it broke for her, as in it would not let her play anymore even long after the update was through, so we read the FAQ and follow the steps on there to scan the game. Now it's broken. Can't even open the game, only update and when that's done it just says WOOPS SOMETHING BROKE, TRY AGAIN. over and over.

Do i really have to sit through downloading the game again? Or is there somehting else i can do?

    First time fresh lvl 70

    Posted: 25 Jun 2020 04:20 AM PDT

    Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone can point me to a truly comprehensive beginner guide as to what I am supposed to do to now once I am level 70. I have had little success on YT so far, because all the guides are made in a way that I myself, (having literally 0 experience in Diablo endgame) have trouble understanding. Or just any advice in general would be super helpful.

    Thank you in advance!
