My Blind Diablo II Experience Day 5 (Shorter Post)

    Posted: 20 May 2020 07:31 PM PDT

Unfortunately I didn't have much time today for me to play so this will be a shorter post than the rest.

    Day 5:

After resting up at the inn, I bid Elzix goodbye, but right before I left, he stops me and asks if I'd be interested in spending some gold to gamble for items. Intrigued, I decide to try and see if I get anything good. I choose to only buy one item for now, to avoid spending too much. Since my armor is pretty set for now, which are a Superior Full Helm (Def: 26), a Strong Breast Plate (Def: 94), Superior Chain Gloves (Def: 11) and Light Plated Boots of Dexterity (Def: 11) that I got from Fara yesterday that I forgot to mention, and that my sword is pretty good for now, I try for a good shield. I purchase an unknown Kite Shield from him for 6496 gold, which turned out to be a rare shield named Gale Guard (I now know that items with yellow text are concidered rare, not unique, and blue text items are magical items) with 24 defence with quite a few additional stats, such as increased block rate, plus 1 to strength and a few others. Defense wise, it's slightly weaker than my Superior Spiked Shield I got awhile ago, but the additional stats might make it worth using.

Putting away my old shield and repairing my current equipment, I set out to search for the remaining pieces of the Horadric Staff. The first part I need to search for is the shaft which is located in the Maggot Lair, underneath the Far Oasis which I believe is right past the Dry Hills. Returning to the Dry Hill via waypoint, I continue onwards and head to the Far Oasis.

While I was spending awhile mapping out the area for the Far Oasis, all of a sudden everything around me goes dark. Confused by the weird darkness, I return to Lut Gholein to find out what is going on. Speaking to Drognan, who had said he researched the source of the "Tainted Sun", he believes it to be the work of Claw Vipers, whose temple is said to be hidden beneath the sands of the Valley of Snakes. Before I go and search for the Claw Viper temple to get rid of the darkness, I head down into the Maggot Lair to retrieve the shaft for the Horadric Staff.

While exploring the first two levels of the lair, I found quite a few rooms that have chests that drop at least one magical item, which for the most part I use as a source of gold since storage space is limited for both my inventory and stash, except for one case being a magical grand scepter, the Sharp Grand Scepter of Slaying, which proves to be better than the Doom Impaler. Continuing to the third level of the lair and slaying tons of maggots, I encounter the Coldworm the Burrower. Since it has the ability to spawn new maggots, I focus on slaying it first before clearing out the room. Once I've cleared out the room, I collect two magical items that Coldworm the Burrower dropped, a morning star and a broad axe, and then I open the golden chest located in the room that contains a good amount of gold as well as the Staff of Kings, which I assume serves as the shaft of the Horadric Staff.

After making sure I've gotten everything I can get from the Maggot Lair, I return to the city to inform Cain of the staff. He confirms that the staff is indeed the shaft portion of the Horadric Staff. Once I've identified the two magical weapons and sold them since they weren't that useful to me, I rest up for tomorrow, where I'll search for the headpiece of the staff and find and destroy the source of the darkness.

    End of Session Stats:

    Zuldylm

    Level: 19

    Strength: 64

    Dexterity: 48

Vitality: 53 (I mistook 5 for a 6 in the last post because the two look so similar in the game)

    Energy: 18

    Skill List Update:

    Learned Sacrifice

    End of Day 5:

Again sorry for the shorter post, I'll try to play in the afternoon tomorrow so I can have a longer session.

Other ARPGs that let you go directly to "Adventure Mode"

    Posted: 21 May 2020 01:48 AM PDT

Are there any other ARPGs that let you immediately access their own version of "Adventure Mode"?

I dont want to go through a campaign, talking to quest givers, going through pages of dialogue, walking through empty maps to find quest items, exploring and re-exploring maps for hidden stuff, etc.

No, I just wanna kill monsters, get loot, unlock skills, and make builds.

Are there other ARPGs like that?

It's my first time on the PTR, any veterans know when they usually start?

    Thanks in advance

How to tell what difficulty you're in?

    Posted: 20 May 2020 08:23 PM PDT

Is there a way to check items or something to be sure I'm in Nightmare?

I have the old GoG version that doesn't have Nightmare or Hell options for single player.

I also have a free CD-ROM version I downloaded from google search that does have Nightmare and Hell options for single player.

So I made a New Game in Nightmare on the CD-ROM version and saved the game. Then moved my character file to the GoG directory and I think it worked.. but there's no way to tell what difficulty you're in, like in D2 interface has.

Is the tall box version of the Diablo Battle Chest very rare?

    Posted: 20 May 2020 06:25 PM PDT

I recently purchased one on Facebook Marketplace for $20. I didn't know there were variations other than the wide box version we all know. But this is the one I am referring to.. Can't seem to find many of them online.

Is this really rare? What's the history on this, just a random variant? The earlier/later release of the battle chest. I can't seem to find anything on it. Why is this thing so hard to find any information on it?

I have recently replayed all the Diablo stories after a 7 year break and I want to go through the series the best way, chronological order. Sadly the internet only give me the the Novel and Game orders separately. So would anyone kindly help a fellow Diablo fan out and send the Full chronological order.

Echohack's Demon Hunter Solo Hardcore Quickstart Reference (Season 21 - PTR Draft)

Echohack's Demon Hunter Solo Hardcore Quickstart Reference (Season 21 - PTR Draft)

    By: echohack

I put together a quickstart guide for season 21 for Demon Hunter. This might come in handy for Season 21, for those of you wanting more of a quick reference style guide. Everyone has a slightly different way they like to play the opening night of the season, so I'd recommend copying this guide and modifying it to your specific needs. This is the guide I keep open in notepad on my second monitor during the opening night of the season.

If you're looking for a more in depth explanation I'd recommend looking at Deadset's Guide if you haven't read it already.

    Quickstart Checklist

    1. SAVE THE CHALLENGE RIFT ON PATCH WEEK
    2. Create a seasonal character first. The purpose of this is to make sure the season is LIVE before doing the challenge rift. You may need to restart your game client if the season is not appearing for you.
    3. Do the challenge rift!
    4. Start adventure mode on normal
    5. Equip your pet and wings
    6. Get your follower's weapon (Scoundral), Hire the Templar
    7. Open challenge rift bag, upgrade blacksmith / mystic
    8. Do Boss Bounties (Do 3 or 4) - Do short travel bosses, like Zoltan Kulle, Skeleton King, Asmodan, Maghda
    9. Get Kanai's cube - On the way, use caltrops / entangling shot to dodge mobs, don't worry too much about killing stuff
    10. Do rare item upgrading
    11. Get a level 70 dagger, upgrade it for Greenstone's Fan or Kalai's Pointe (Greenston's Fan is preferred)
    12. PUT IT IN THE CUBE
    13. Bloodshard gambling
    14. High Level Rare Craft, Level 70 Two Handed Bow/Sword/Mace
    15. Begin rifting. While waiting for the rift to close, do Fields of Misery for Massacre Bonus xp. Make a new game and repeat.

    Priority Order for Bloodshard Gambling

    • Bracer / Wraps of Clarity
    • Pants / Pox Faulds
    • Helm / Leoric's Crown
    • Belt / Hellcat Waistguard (Can also roll Vigilante Belt / Goldwrap, but these aren't as useful)

    1-70 Leveling Reference

    High Level Rare Craft Tips

    • Want a crowd control stat
    • Reroll the non-crowd control stat at Mystic
    • Don't reroll too much on one item. Re-craft if you hit 3 rerolls without a reduced level requirement stat
    • Go for Reduced Level Requirement by 20-30 (This avoids the increased xp curve at level 50)
    • Don't try to min-max at Reduced Level Requirement 30. You'll need those mats for other things

    Suggested Level 20 Loadout

    • Chakram - twin
    • Preparation
    • Vault / Tactical
    • Companion
    • Hunger / More Hatred
    • Impale or Fan of Knives

    Other 1-70 leveling tips

Borns + Cain's Set is good for leveling, craft it you can

Optional: Shrine Gloves from Act 2 bounty cache at level 12

Optional: At level 60, consider cubing one additional item if you have the mats / Death's Breath

You may decide to spend your bloodshards from rifts if you're having bad luck and don't have a good item yet. In that case, I'd suggest using the below list when considering blood shard gambling at higher levels.

    Item Pools - https://www.d3planner.com/game/66666/kadala

Items to look for when leveling

    Weapon

    • Valla's Bequest (level 30)
    • K'mar Tenclip (level 34)
    • Balefire Caster (level 31)

    Belt

    • Hellcat Waistguard (level 15)

    Chest

    • Aquila Cuirass (level 23)
    • Cindercoat (level 34)
    • Beckon Sail (level 34)
    • Blackfeather (level 34)

    Hands

    • Magefist (level 34)
    • St. Andrew's Gage (level 34)

    Helm

    • Leoric's Crown (level 5)

    Pants

    • Pox Faulds (level 11)

    Quiver

    • Spines of Seething Hatred (level 31)
    • Ninth Cirri Satchel (level 34)
    • Holy Point Shot (level 31)
    • Emimei's Duffel (level 34)

    Ring

    • Leoric's Signet (level 15)
    • Broken Promises (level 31)
    • Nagelring (level 40)
    • Rechel's Ring of Larceny (level 34)

    Shoulders

    • Mantle of Channeling (level 34)

    Level 70+ Reference

    1. Once level 70, start doing the season journey and making progress towards Haedrig's Gift. At this point you will want to start looking for end game equipment. If you're not sure what you want to keep, stash everything and work it out later.

    2. Upgrade rares into legendaries. If you have the mats, craft a few. You can use Kadala's item pools to help decide what you want to upgrade: https://www.d3planner.com/game/66666/kadala

    3. If you're lucky enough to have Captain Crimson's set or Aughild's Set plans at this point, consider crafting these right away. Even better if you manage to pick up RORG from your first Act 1 Bounty Cache.

    Suggested Level 70 Loadout

Prioritize your highest damage bonus attacks based on the legendaries you have so far, and dump all your other skills into toughness and mobility.

    • Shadow Power : Gloom
    • Vengeance : Dark Heart
    • Vault : Tumble
    • Preparation : Battle Scars
    • Generator
    • Spender
    • Tactical Advantage
    • Awareness
    • Perfectionist
    • Hot Pursuit

    Level 70+ Next Steps

    1. Do a full set of Act 1-5 bounties. You'll need the mats in order to extract legendary powers into the cube. You can also get Gloves of Worship or Illusory Boots right away from Act 2, which can be quite good on hardcore. You might already have some from leveling that are worth cubing right away, and using a better stat item on your character (like Wraps of Clarity).

    2. Continue rifting and upping the difficulty level slowly as you get more and more suvivability. Your damage will outpace your survivability, so don't ramp things up too fast. Working towards maxed diamonds in your gear can help with early survivability. An early Elusive Ring / Clarity Wraps / Unity combo can be game changing.

    3. Finish Season Journey Chapter's 1-4

    4. Safely push towards solo GR 70 for Primal unlock

New Meta Podcast 100: Diablo 3 PTR Patch

    Posted: 20 May 2020 10:19 AM PDT

Do not make same Diablo 3 release mistake as before blizzard. Release Diablo 4 on next gen only.

    Posted: 20 May 2020 09:38 PM PDT

Release Diablo 4 on Ps5 and Xbox series x only because just in case someone hacks the ps4 or xbox one they might let accounts transfer over.

I believe someone may hack it when micosoft and sony stops supporting it so might as well launch D4 with next gen off the bat only.

Thats what killed a lot of D3 in normal mode because people brought hacked accounts from xbox 360 and ps3 to ps4 and xbox one.

So I figured out why Diablo 3 is objectively trash.

    Posted: 21 May 2020 12:30 AM PDT

I've played Diablo over 20 years. I don't care what you have to say I'm stating some real real and it's what the company needs to learn from to make 4 and the future of Diablo swell again.

(This is the only point I will hold in an objective stance as numbers don't lie)

*Diablo 1 & 2. Your stats your damage your bonuses can all he calculated by YOU the player I know where every single point of damage is coming from.

In 3 I get an item plus 20 more intelligence I do like a million more damage. That is OBJECTIVELY terrible. In any degree. I have never been as flabbergasted with a game*

If this was gauntles 64s descendent I wouldn't give a shit but it's not.

The fact that they sold us the necromancer is scummy af and in its own merit proof that blizzard is incompetent.

3 should have all classes out this far unless canonically impossible (like how the assassin order disappeared from the lore explained through natalya or whatever)

Whimsyhire..? Who was this game even for. A woodland area followed by a desert very original.

Too much Sasuke like edgelord nephalem talk. Leah = most pointless character introduction in gaming history

Tyrael ruined. Izual isn't at rest anymore and as asshole again? The butchers back and isn't merciless. The skeleton king is before the butcher like umm..

They didn't even bring back Lazarus but wanted to milk off nostalgia. Guess an unrecognizable archbishop isn't DeviantArt enough to sell right.

    No runewords is a travesty.

The world is too streamlined and linear.

    Maltheal is the ultimate sasuke.

The rubber band difficulty just doesn't work and it's not even possible to play on the highest at all. Simply not. Torment 26? No. You're not. If you are you're at a mov for 2 minutes each and that's not really playing a game that's trudging through horribly placed code linings and cheesing not dying long enough to boast the fact the deed has been done.

Ultimately it dawned on me tonight Diablo 3 and 4 will fail of it's not like an overhead version of dark souls. You can disagree but if so you probably never played hellfire median xl fought ubers or anything good in this series.

I mean really think about it if it was overhead and kinda clunky like it idk Used to feel?

In Diablo 3 some classes can't even melee that's a farce There's no reason to equip a weapon as a wizard other than buffs

In d1&2 you had the option which makes all the difference.

Blizzard north is gone and honestly likely is the rest of what we wanted from them It saddens me because everyone talks about Diablo 3 like "well it sold more copies than 2" like 2 came out before the internet was fucking streamlined bruh people bought it because of that easily downloadable fun Diablo game we all played and because those who played d2 found

    Historys

    Best

    Sequel.

Question regarding elemental damage and non-primary skills

    Posted: 20 May 2020 01:16 PM PDT

D3 So does the elemental damage apply to my non-primary skills as well?

This is super frustrating. Seems like an easy answer. Everything I find online says elemental stats only affect over all damage and the number doesn't matter. Ppl seem confused by that. I get it. It's easy math. What I frustratingly can't find is if elemental effects are applied to my other skills as well. I have a power that effects lighting damage and need to know if I'm doing lighting damage when I'm using my secondary power since my sword is electrified.

Having issues leveling my second character

    Posted: 20 May 2020 06:55 AM PDT

Hi all. I'm pretty new to Diablo and had a question regarding leveling my second character. I have a lvl 70 wizard that I have been running rifts with and leveling gems. I started a DH for my second character and I equipped the gem of ease and ran a T6 rift. I smoked everything pretty quickly, leveling up to 40 on the first floor. However going to the second floor, or really anywhere else, I'm getting one shot by everything. So I equipped more gear, legendary gems, etc. and I'm still getting destroyed. I can barely run T2 or T3. I feel like I must be missing something simple but how was T6 so easy at first and now so difficult? Anyway, any help with this or how to quickly level my 2nd character to 70 would be appreciated.
