Critical Hit damage - Should D4 really have that affix?

    Posted: 06 Dec 2019 11:45 AM PST

I feel like one of the big issues with Diablo 3 itemization is that CHD is WAY too powerful of an affix.

Every single class and build (save zdps I guess) will want Critical Chance and CHD in their build, because it scales way too hard. This creates an issue where if the items doesnt have those stats, it is garbage by default. Not only that, it takes away some of the choices from the player.

For example: some players might prefer attack speed because it looks cooler, other prefer cooldown reduction because they like to click a lot and spam skills, and other just prefer a flat damage or an on-hit type of effect.

However, I'm afraid all of this choices will be 100% bad if we have CHD in the game. We could still have Critical chance in the game if the critical damage is a fixed value like double damage or just +50% more damage.

Anyone else feels the same way?

How to get over lvl 110 grifts?

    Posted: 06 Dec 2019 08:23 PM PST

Me and my bro has been getting into d3 for the first time this season and we have made it to about lvl 110 grifts We have looked up what set combos are good etc which have allowed us to make it to this lvl

Now we don't know what we need to do to progress further since nothing seem to drop better items for us and we don't have enough damage to make it higher

I've seen top players have lots of primal items but in the 2 weeks we've been playing we have only seen 1 primal item drop which wasn't even a good one

What do we need to do in order to make it above 110 Grifts?

Ledges and climbing are soft gates.

    Posted: 06 Dec 2019 08:07 PM PST

Something I noticed is that while there are several traversable ledges in the various dungeons, the way to interact with them is not the ledges themselves but the runes that appear at the top and bottom. These can be hidden from the player via scripting to essentially create one-way doors into arenas that are more friendly to a shared world than actual gates or warp points. They also function as a hard boundary that monsters and skills cannot cross, preventing issues with leashing or kiting of bosses. Last, we can see in the Drowned dungeon that they can prevent players from advancing until a story vignette is done. I compliment Blizzard for finding a more in-world way to handle that kind of gating.

Petition to immediately remove "Area Damage" Paragon due to excessive lagging and game breaking nature

    Posted: 06 Dec 2019 09:43 PM PST

This paragon skill "Area Damage" needs to be removed until they fix the bug where it lags the server until you die / can't use any other skills as you lag. This is a direct result of 50/50 Area Damage paragon.

    Delayed ladder reset team

    Posted: 06 Dec 2019 02:08 PM PST

Anyone interested in a ladder reset team (Or have one established already) that would start a little later? Due to work I won't be able to start right on time but a couple hours after. My disord is Placebo #7332, I am open to doing any build. Thanks.

Maybe a long shot, but is there any euro reset teams that don't care if we reach baal first, don't require you to shit in a bucket, don't require you to be a specific build, drinks/smokes a lot?

D4 Runeword System & Maximizing Uptime (potential problem with emergent gameplay)

    Posted: 06 Dec 2019 07:55 AM PST

So I've been thinking about the D4 runeword system a bit, and I was thinking about what kind of gameplay decisions it could lead you to make... and...

...won't we just be always using the condition rune that we can proc the most often (and thus provide the highest uptime for the effect rune), and the effect rune that contributes the most to our DPS? Like, say I'm a freeze mage... ok all of my conditions are just "When you freeze an enemy..." and all of my effect runes are whatever happens to be the best; like "...you gain 30% increased damage for 5 seconds." or whatever.

If I'm running a crit build I'll just jam a bunch of "When you land a critical strike..." conditions, and so on.

It just doesn't seem like there is much design space here. Everyone will just spam the exact same runewords in every gearslot that has sockets.

Of course, one way we could circumvent this problem is by making runes unique-equipped; so you can only use "When you freeze an enemy..." once--but even then, it seems lackluster.

    Thoughts?

D2 HC Ladder - FC Bear or Maul Bear?

    Posted: 06 Dec 2019 08:16 AM PST

It has been ages since I played D2 and I want to use the new Ladder reset for a little challenge... play Hardcore and see how far I can go :) I was inspired by the D4 demo of course, as so many others, and wanna go the route of Werebear... have been doing a fair amount of research but found so many old, outdated or contradicting things that I am unsure where to head: Fireclaw with pure fire damage, or Maul with pure physical? Of course, first I have to survive and get into the endgame... so I am looking for some advice and input from other veterans here, who hopefully want to share some wisdowm which route to take for safest leveling and highest potential :)

Noob question: does D3 have something similar to /nopickup comand from D2, where you won't pick up items by mistake, they can be picked up only if you press ALT first?

How exactly the shield of Molten Wildebeest's Gizzard work?

    Posted: 06 Dec 2019 01:20 PM PST

I was wondering about a few things:

    1. If you stay 4 seconds without damage, the shield will be up
    2. If you take any damage that is lower than the power of the shield will it keep up? Or is it only to prevent the first blow?
    3. If it keeps up, the power of the shield will be discounted from the previous blow, and could be getting less and less power until it breaks, or it stands there intact until a hit with MORE power than the shield, then it would break it?
    4. If the Shield has its power discounted, how to regenerate the shield to its full power without breaking it?
    5. All your damage reduction buffs come before or after the shield? I mean, if I'm using Unity, the damage that comes to the Shield would be 50% of it?
    6. What about Life regeneration, like Life per Second and Life per Hit? They come after the Shield, I assume. I mean, if the shield is up, they don't matter because the character is not taking any damage at all
    7. If the shield is up and your toon receives a damaging strike that has more damage than the shield, will it absorb part of the blow and redirect the rest discounting to the toon's life?

    Thanks for your information. Regards.

Is Lillith only the first of many to be summoned?

    Posted: 05 Dec 2019 10:47 PM PST

I cant help but think that she is just the first (possibly act 1 boss) of many we will see come back to the game somehow, and the first cinematic is one of many to come.

    Opinions?
