    D2Rα — all Act I & II Models Datamined — feedback

    Posted: 14 May 2021 11:31 AM PDT

Diablo II Resurrected Alpha Model Datamining (different from the Purediablo one, all models & looking like they do ingame, except for the fire golem)

    What do you think?

    I absolutely love the effort and attention to detail that went into these models, excellently done, Vicarious Visions. There is some contrast in 3 models though, not in quality, I should emphasize, but design choices;

    • Amazon model improved compared to pre-α, but still could be much better, if Kashya, Flavie or Atma can fit in this dark fantasy world, so can the Amazon, just like she does in original D2, as can be seen in all this material, which doesn't leave much space for speculation, nobody had problem with the D2 Amazon design for 20 years, Shenk the Overseer has been posting about the original Amazon

    • Assassin remake was unexpected and uncalled for, she is completely redesigned, that isn't 70% authenticity 30% change, but reverse at best, I'm not saying that it isn't a well made RPG assassin that is in line with the martial arts stereotypes (even though one could argue that it originated in India, the term refers to the arts of Mars and specifically the Assassins were from Persia, Turkey and Syria), but that isn't even relevant because this remake isn't the Diablo 2 Assassin which is supposed to be remastered in D2R, not discarded and reinvented, every other remastered character clearly resembles the original ones except for the assassin, a graphical remaster shouldn't remake so much a playable character, if it is for the sake of inclusion (as much as I support it irl, I don't want politics mixed into and changing Diablo 2), this model could be applied on Natalya, while keeping the Assassin authentic, there is all this material where it can be seen how the Assassin looks like originally

    • Paladin, this redesign doesn't look like the original one, he is older and gives in general a different impression compared to the original design, there is enough material to know how Blizzard North intended him to look like, for example

We're only in Alpha and the fact that only 3 models are subjects of constructive criticism and the rest of the so many models from act 1 & 2 exceeded expectations (at least in my opinion, feel free to add feedback) is a proof that VV is doing truly an impressive work worthy of being a remaster of a genre defining, standard setting masterpiece classic like Diablo 2.

While they are working on assets based on the original artworks, shouldn’t they also create unique appearance to “Rushed” recoloured assets? Ie: Countess and Arkaine valor

We all know that Diablo 2 release was rushed and if they had the time they would have made those assets look Unique. As a shortcut they just changed their colour

As in the title the examples are

It would be awesome if they all looked unique

There might be artwork for some of them in the archive and for those that don't... I trust VV to make them look cool

I wish there would be a viable Electrocute build in the game

    Posted: 14 May 2021 05:09 AM PDT

Because it is really fun to zap around with it…

Such a build could actually be useful if the Electrocute-related items Velvet Camaral (a Wizard Hat) and Myken's Ball of Hate (Off-Hand Source) also have a Damage Multiplier to Electrocute in addition to their current bonuses.

An Electrocute LoD based build could then use these items:

    • the newly updated Fragment of Destiny (triple Signature Skill Damage + 50% increased Signature Skill Attack Speed)
    • The Shame of Delsere (another 50% increased Attack Speed for Signature Skills, and it could also get a damage multiplier for Signature Skills, which it is currently missing)
    • Velvet Camaral (with an additional damage multiplier for Electrocute)
    • Myken's Ball of Hate (with an additional damage multiplier for Electrocute)
    • eventually Manald Heal (if used in combination with Paralysis, if the additional damage is strong enough)
    • Aquila Cuirass (for the damage reduction when at full resource).
    • Simplicity's Strength (Legendary Gem) for increased Primary Skill Damage

Then maybe Starfire in the cube for additional Lightning Damage or a Serpent Sparker if the build is used together with Lightning Hydra (since it would synergize with the newly updated Fragment of Destiny).

You would obviously use the Chain Lightning rune for Electrocute, that is unless you are getting that rune for free on an item (maybe also add the rune as a bonus to Myken's Ball of Hate or Velvet Camaral in addition to the damage multiplier).

The only thing that this build would really struggle with are single enemies, since the Electrocute can not jump back and forth between two or more enemies if you only fight against one enemy, so it could use an item (either Velvet Camaral or Myken's Ball of Hate) that has the effect that it causes Electrocute to deal increased damage if it only hits a single enemy.

    Myken's Ball of Hate
Electrocute gains the Chain Lightning rune, deals xxx% increased damage and can chain to enemies that have already been hit.

    Velvet Camaral
Doubles the number of enemies your Electrocute jumps to and increases the damage of Electrocute by xxx%. In addition to that, failing to chain to a new target releases the outstanding damage of all remaining jumps on the last target you hit.

Eventually the DMO set could also buff Electrocute, so that there both is a DMO and a LoD version of the build. But even if there is just a LoD version it should be fine.

Is there anyone with me who also would be into such a build? I have played it and although it is not really competitive at the moment, it really is a lot of fun.

Will this get me the Avarice conquest?

    Posted: 14 May 2021 11:20 AM PDT

New player here. I have filled an entire stash tab with torment 16 bounty caches. Will opening all these at once be enough to complete the avarice conquest? I'd like to get confirmation so that I don't waste this hard work. Also, does it matter if I open them in town or should I open them in some other area.

    First usable Primal this season.

    Posted: 14 May 2021 07:14 AM PDT

    First usable Primal this season.

Its only taken 327,771 Bloodshards, 749 Nephalem Rifts, 1200 Bounties, close to 20,000 regular materials but I finally managed to reforge myself a usable Primal in the form of a Deathwish.

    Primal Deathwish, before Augmentation

    Primal Deathwish, after Augmentation

Right up until Paragon 1639 and Grater Rift 120, all but one of the Primals I've found has been salvaged. The one I did keep was a Unity, which ended up being equipped onto my follower...

Why does Diablo 2 have so little inventory space? I think it should be increased 10 times

    Posted: 14 May 2021 04:58 PM PDT

In Grim Dawn i currently have about 5 tabs for inventory and 3 for stash

Meanwhile Diablo 2 has almost no inventory space

    Why?

I think it should be increased 10 times

Why did the creator of the game, Anders Breivik, decide to make it so little?

There should be "Shiny" unique items. A really low %odd for eligible unique item to drop with the Diablo 1 model(remastered)
