Diablo 3 crashing when resuming windows session?

    Posted: 15 May 2020 03:47 PM PDT

I'll step away from the computer to make a sandwich or whatever, come back, and then get out of screen saver.

However, when Diablo 3 comes up, it feels like its trying to process everything that happened over 10 minutes at the same time. Either way, it tends to slow down to a halt, and basically stop responding.

This happens only to Diablo 3, and only in this instance. I've never had this problem with another game before. Is this known? Is there a fix? Lol.

Can't a dude just make a sammich without worry? lol

    Season anomaly for Diablo 3?

    Posted: 15 May 2020 12:18 PM PDT

Hey everyone, first post here. I was reading the new PTR notes and wondered about it. I'd like to know what the community thinks about changing seasons mechanics for Diablo 3.

Heroes of The Storm has a feature called Nexus Anomaly: every season, the developers allow themselves to go through with some bigger changes for the game. The first one changed how experience is acquired and the current one changed how forts and keeps behave in the game. These changes aren't necessarily good or bad: it's like a bigger experiment, a "big scale Live PTR", that helps keep things fresh, changing how you play the game. The devs take feedback from it and use it to improve the overall experience of the game.

Maybe Diablo 3 seasons could borrow that functionality. Bringing in as a theme season lots of reworked and revamped sets at once, for example. Or a difficulty system revamp. Increased bounty difficulty and reward. Maybe even a new endgame activity, like a Horde Mode based on current and past Diablo mechanics, like Greater Rift Trials, Cursed Chests and the Jar of Souls event. If it works, it gets through to the main game, if it doesn't, it gets removed.

I know bigger changes require more manpower, which the current D3 team have not much of, but I think going through with this "laboratory mindset" could at least catalyze faster, more significant changes, enabling the team to achieve more results with the same resources. The feedback they get from this would not just be usable by the D3 team, it could even be used by D4 team to further collect information on "Why X mechanic works and why Y mechanic doesn't".

The leaderboards are already plagued with botters, and even though we have many build options in comparison to the past, the classes aren't really well balanced, so I don't see balance or the competitive scene as a problem for this approach.

Could Diablo Seasons incorporate the Anomaly function? What do you think?

My thoughts on a potential Diablo 2 remaster

    Posted: 15 May 2020 06:20 PM PDT

This is probably not really necessary for me to do right now, considering the so called "Diablo 2: Resurrected" hasn't actually been confirmed yet, but as someone who played Diablo 2 constantly during college, I can't help but have mixed feelings over the thing.

To be honest, I would LOVE a Diablo 2 remaster. I love the original, even though I don't play it very much anymore. Even if the graphics didn't exactly age very well(and video game graphics are not that big a concern to me), the game itself is all kinds of fun. With five classes(seven if you include Lord of Destruction), three skill trees per class, five areas and all of their dark and gritty atmospheres to explore, and enough weapons and armor to rival Borderlands, Diablo 2 was nothing short of amazing for me. I just had tons of fun exploring the lands, slaughtering tons of demons and undead, and even doing some online co-op now and then. About the only things I haven't done are the ladders(to be fair, I'm not that competitive) and unlock the secret boss fight between Mephisto, Diablo, and Baal all at the same time(grinding gets pretty boring in this game, my only legit complaint about it), and yet I'll admit part of me wants to try it again.

Diablo 3...was not as much fun. To be fair, I stuck out the game, and admittedly, I did enjoy the more streamlined approach. I was always unsure how far I needed to take the four attributes in Diablo 2, as far as equipment requirements go. The bosses were rather health-spongy, but it was pretty fun. Then things changed, with lots of difficulty levels, boss health bars reduced to pushover mode, and the changing seasons simply throwing around more equipment sets to hunt down. This is when I pretty much got sick of the game. Even the necromancer couldn't hold me long, and there's very little new and engaging things being put in the game anymore. That's understandable, what with Diablo 4 being talked about, but in the meantime, there's talk of a Diablo 2 remaster.

Had it not been for Warcraft 3: Refunded-excuse me, Reforged, I'd be in total hype mode. As it stands, the best I can manage is a massive anime sweat drop. Don't get me wrong, I'd love it if this remaster was real, but even then, I'd be cautiously optimistic, emphasis on CAUTIOUSLY. To be fair, Starcraft's remaster was very good, and for someone who doesn't particularly enjoy RTS games, I had fun playing it. Warcraft 3? UGH! After all the videos I've seen, I've basically all but boycotted Activision Blizzard entirely. I don't like taking that stance, as I'm sure there are people in the company that actually try their hardest to give us good games, but I just have little faith in the company these days.

What doesn't help is that I've found other action rpgs that are so much more fun. I mean, look at Path of Exile. Look at GRIM DAWN! How do indie titles have more customization and more atmospherically dark worlds than Diablo 3? Look, I still have a soft spot for Diablo 2, and I would absolutely dive head first into a remaster(a GOOD remaster, mind you). I have a feeling a successful project like that would really invigorate some interest in Activision-Blizzard. That being said, I feel like even a remaster might not be enough to get people jumping. Reforged showed people just how badly a remake can fall, which certainly doesn't help things. If it were up to me, I'd focus more on Diablo 4 than anything else. I feel like that's what people really want to see these days. Hell, if it were up to me, I'd go for a new Lost Vikings game, or just a new IP entirely.

In conclusion, a Diablo 2 remaster would certainly be nice, but I wouldn't care if we didn't get one. The original is just find, and the Median XL mod is fun as well. I just want Activision-Blizzard to make good games. Period.

What do you guys think? Thanks for reading.

Xbox one - D3 Challenge Rift Reset

    Posted: 15 May 2020 07:41 AM PDT

I finished the barbarian 150 challenge rift and it seems like it was well over a week ago. I go to check it and it just says the 150 challenge rift is closed. Am I missing something? Admittedly, I've only been back to D3 for about a month (and loving it) and the necromancer and barbarian CR were the only ones I had done.

When can we expect the Diablo 2 Ladder reset?

    Posted: 15 May 2020 07:06 AM PDT

Hi! With the news of a D2 remaster I wanna achieve one of my long time gaming dreams, getting to level 99 in Diablo 2.

But I don't wanna start this journey if there is like a ladder reset in a month or two.

Does anyone know a timeframe of sorts when to expect the ladder reset?

    Cheerios, Diablo community.

    Paladin skill?

    Posted: 15 May 2020 05:13 AM PDT

I've recently picked up D2 again, after a break for about 15 years. I vaguely remember a paladin skill that would damge a monster for some percentage of its HP. I think it was about 25%. I can't find it now. Has it been removed? Or was it never in diablo, but some other game I remember it from?
