Working on Tal Rasha Laser build, some advice?

    Posted: 19 Apr 2020 04:16 PM PDT

Trying to build a s20 (obviously) TR build main ability disintegrate

    Equipment:

    Head: TR guise of wisdom

    Neck: TR allegiance

    Chest: TR relentless pursuit

    Shoulders: Mantle of Channeling

    Arm: TR grasp

Wrist: Nemesis Bracers (? is there a better option, it spawns elites at shrines that's all)

    Waist: TR Brace

    Leg: TR Stride

    Feet: Boots of Disregard

Rings: Restraint + Focus/ or/ Convention of Elements + something else? (unsure)
    _____________

    main hand: Deathwish

off hand: orb of infinite depth

    _____________
need help here with the gems

gems: bane of stricken, zei's stone of vengeance, bane of trapped/taeguk (unsure)

    _____________

    Kanai's Kube
Etched Sigil, Hergbrash's Binding, Halo of Karini
    _____________

    Abilities

Teleport (wormhole or calamity?) /Explosive Blast (flash) /Storm Armor (scramble) /Magic Weapon (force weapon)

Ray of Frost (snow blast)/ Disintegrate (convergence)

    _________________

Kind of want convention of elements, but then not sure what to use for the other ring. The 200% dmg boost for elemental effect I think would be greater dmg output than the +50% increased damage with a resource spending attack for Restraint+Focus.

I could use firebird pinions and gloves, but then I'd need a ring of royal grandeur. Which I could use for my second, but that benefits METEOR, which I have abandoned in favor of ray of frost, because of the dmg boost to my channeling skills, so I don't feel all that would be worth it to add meteor dmg.

I could switch out Boots of Disregard and use the firebird boots there, with Royal Grandeur, I'd get the second set bonus there, adding fire dmg (will it burn with frost from ray, lightning from storm shield, and disintegrate for the 3k% dmg buff?) Boots of disregard lets me stand there and face tank though, adding a lot of life regen.

But I can't use focus+restraint with tal rasha and firebird, unless I use Royal Grandeur's effect in my cube.

Except Sigil buffs Disintegrate's dmg, Hergbrash's Binding reduces its cost by half, and Halo of Karini reduces dmg daken by 80% when an enemy is struck more than 15 yards away with storm shield, which gives me a lot of survive-ability there.
    ________

tl;dr - I'm stumped, please look at my build and give me advice lol

Displaying seconds on the Diablo 3 in-game clock on Windows? [Investigation]

    Posted: 19 Apr 2020 08:25 AM PDT

I think we might have discovered a small-but-interesting inconsistency with Windows and MacOS versions of the game.

I play/stream on MacOS, and I have always had seconds on my in-game clock, so I didn't think anything of it. But /u/Tubahero37 brought up that Windows doesn't have seconds in-game.

At first, we thought we could fix this by updating Window's system time format in control panel. But I think that Diablo 3 is using the OS's "short time" for both MacOS and Windows.

MacOS allows you to display seconds in the system's short time.

Windows does not allow you to display seconds in the system's short time.

Now I could be wrong here, but I think this means that it's impossible to show seconds in-game on Windows. If someone out there knows a workaround, please let me know!

This is an issue for players who are pushing leaderboards because in GRs you have 15 minutes to complete the rift. Knowing how much time you have left at a glance in-game is a big deal because on difficult pushes, seconds matter.

I think Blizzard could implement a "always show greater rift timer" checkbox in settings, so there's an in-game countdown timer above the purple progress bar. That would fix the issue in a better way, I think. You'd want this at high levels of play because hovering over the purple bar to see remaining time left wastes time.

Another way you could implement this is to always show a timer when you are playing a GR that you haven't completed before. No checkbox in UI required.

It's also important to have the "in-game" time because it's more authoritative. Right now folks who push high GRs might use their phone or other kind of external timer app on their desk, which could be off-sync with what is going on in game.

ALL that said, this is a pretty small issue that only effects players that are pushing for leaderboards.

I do think it's really interesting how little things like this can matter a ton to high skilled players.

Is anyone still playing Diablo 1?

    Posted: 19 Apr 2020 09:03 AM PDT

I'm just getting back into it after buying a copy on gog and wanted to casually run through.

Does anyone have a godly plate of the whale, obsidian rings, etc for gear?

How does Legacy of Dreams calculate?

    Posted: 19 Apr 2020 06:33 PM PDT

If I have Legendaries, and LoD is giving me 75% bonus (just a random number), and I were to do 10,000 damage.

    Would I do 75*10 = 750% of that for 75,000 damage?

Or would I do x(1.75)10 for ~2.7 million damage?

New Legendary Gem Idea: Gem of Opening

    Posted: 19 Apr 2020 07:47 AM PDT

I think a cool idea for a legendary gem would be a gem of opening. Automatically opens chests, bodies, loose tiles etc around a 20m radius of the character.

Not super game changing as far as balance goes, but I think its an interesting idea. You could continue to fly through rifts but it would be opening all of the things that are usually passed right by.

Diablo 3 on the ps3 might be my favorite version of the game.

    Posted: 19 Apr 2020 07:58 PM PDT

I don't know what has changed, i have played Diablo 3 on and off for years thinking that maybe this time i'll like the game. The ps3 version is stuck in a patch before reaper of souls, you still have to buy potions, no loot 2.0 i actually enjoying getting trash legendaries. Not sure if the game has health globes and nephalem buffs.

Anyway, for some reason i have found the most enjoyment out of the left behind version of diablo 3, it's a surprise but a welcome one.

How to further improve my character

    Posted: 19 Apr 2020 03:59 AM PDT

Hello there. So far season 20 is the season I've played the most due to global pandemic situation. I got some lvled and geared up characters, but I'm focusing mainly on my crusader, which role is to be BK in meta runs. Here's a link to my character!. I've just received that squirt's and been wondering how should I reforge it? Roll STR into other stat (maybe my paragon is too low for this), or aim for 20% holy dmg? Do you guys have any other suggestions how to improve my character? I focus mainly on group play (range of difficulty: 115-130). Right now I'm lvling my gems for future augments. Thanks in advance for your help. Edit: I see link isn't working properly - my cube is as follows: 2-h flail, furnance, RoRG.

Any "assassin" / gladiator style class in D:III?

    Posted: 19 Apr 2020 01:34 PM PDT

    Hey guys.

Tried search function but because of the assassin in D:II and speculation of return of the assassin I'm D:IV I really couldn't find good info about this for D:III.

Can you recommend any class (+build would be dope) for an assassin/gladiator style class? What I mean mainly is Melee class with dual swords, dual daggers or sword+dagger combo.

Visual assassin look would be bonus :) I know DH could look dope with Cape and right helmet/hood?

Unpopular Opinion: Diablo 1 is the Best ARPG

    Posted: 19 Apr 2020 05:52 PM PDT

That's right, Diablo 1 is my favourite out of all Diablo and Diablo-like games. It's the game that started it all.

While some things have not aged well, such as the slow walking speed (especially in town) and friendly fire, other things stand out, such as the amazing music and atmosphere (the best music and easily the best atmosphere in any of the Diablo games IMO).

After playing Diablo 2 for about ~16 years, playing Diablo 1 off and on for ~5 years and beating Diablo 3 a handful of times, I can safely say I prefer the first over the others. This is just my opinion obviously, as some people (especially the younger ones) wouldn't be able to stomach D1.

I'm currently playing the PS1 version with ePSXe on my tab s6 with a bluetooth controller, I own the gog version and have played the og disc way back in the day.

The one spot Diablo 2 shines, is online play, Diablo 3 shines with it's shared stash. Other than that, here's a list of reasons I prefer Diablo 1 over the others -

    • Music
    • Atmosphere
    • Shrines (that don't say exactly what they'll do).
    • Equipment (it's basic and effective, no clutter and is very easy to learn for the most part).
    • More tactical combat.
    • Every character class can use any spell in the game. Want to have an energy shield warrior that can also lay down firewalls? Go ahead!
    • No runewords or overpowered uniques.
    • 90% of the time, magic items are the most powerful.
    • The ability to drop items on the ground as a stash without them poofing after leaving or making a new game.
    • The lore and voice acting is outstanding, especially on a ~24 year old game.
    • Seeing Wirt and Griswold alive.
    • Not just facetanking everything, you have to kite and funnel or use the map to your advantage.

There's more than this that I can't think of right now, but these are just a few reasons why I personally prefer Diablo 1. This is just my opinion and I do like the other two (especially D2). Something about going down one floor at a time just feels much more rewarding to me.

    Anyone else feel the same?
