Why does a GR guardian on 110+ drop from ~30% to 0% instantly when I'm playing my WD?

    Posted: 15 Mar 2020 10:20 AM PDT

I haven't played WD in a while but I don't understand why this happens. It takes about 40 seconds to remove the first 70% of the GR guardian health pool and then they just instantly die. I am playing 2P with a support barbarian if that's any indication.

S20 - Easiest class to beat Dungeon Set challenge and also get the Seasonal Stash Tab ?

    Posted: 15 Mar 2020 02:14 PM PDT

So, yeah, I played a Crusader on S19, with the Haedrig's Gift, and, somehow, for the life of me, I could not get him past the Dungeon Set challenge, so I put the breaks on the whole S19, but, I was thinking that, with the stacking of Kanai powers in S20, maybe things would be different in S20.

Therefore, my question is, for Season 20, what is the easiest class to beat Dungeon Set challenge and also get the Seasonal Stash Tab ?

Has anyone tried a zunimasa dod build with the 4-peice bonus of the new set?

    Posted: 15 Mar 2020 01:22 PM PDT

If so do please tell if it is worth trying, the added toughness of mandunugus 4 peice seems interesting. I was inspired by the dh n6m4 build and saw zuni's had potential for a similar thing, i just dont have the ring to pull it off.

Where are all the crazy fun Kanai's cube builds?

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 10:27 PM PDT

Just been looking over a few builds at icyveins, d3 builds and a few other pages, and pretty much all of the builds are still using the weapon, armour, ring combo.

I know people still want to push GR's higher and higher but where are the fun triple weapon, armour, ring combos?

Surely there has to be some wacky combo's that are totally glass cannon / super tank style?

*edit* I probably should of specified this question was because of the new season 20 buff that allows you to cube any three items regardless of type*

    Season mode without internet?

    Posted: 15 Mar 2020 02:22 PM PDT

Just woke up and saw the Xbox servers are down.

I have already created a seasonal character and was wondering if i can continue progressing without being online.

I know leaderboards won't count and no multiplayer... but can I continue working towards the season rewards while offline?

Experienced Diablo fan who hasn't played any of the expansions. Worth pickup up the game again to play the new content?

    Posted: 15 Mar 2020 07:12 AM PDT

Long story short I played D3 when it originally came out, went through the RMAH fiasco and kept playing for about a year or so. Between work and life I quit playing and just haven't had the time to commit to gaming in the intervening years.

now with this coronavirus setting in it looks like I'll have a lot more free time to get caught up on some gaming. I guess my question is: is it worth it? I don't really know much about the expansions but I enjoyed D3 for the most part. It didn't have the same magic as D2 but it was entertaining and "scratched the itch" for a great dungeon crawler/isometric RPG which I really enjoy.

If you do recommend starting to play again, any thoughts on how to go about my new run? Start a new character? New class? Try and keep going from my high level characters and just play the new expansions?

    Thanks for any thoughts!

A discussion on the topic of Item Tetris.

    Posted: 15 Mar 2020 01:04 PM PDT

It comes down to one question: what purpose does the item meta-game have?

It adds gameplay in the form of turning your inventory into another decision: for making gold and for picking upgrades.

Remember that Diablo stemmed from roguelike dungeon crawlers). You had a limited time to live and a limited amount of time at merchants to trade gear -- certainly none of this town portal crap! -- so the concept of picking which items you kept or dropped was an important part of the overall game.

That time spent at a vendor was your only chance to get back inventory space and you had to FIND them. This meant you had to decisions to make about the icons in your inventory, with bigger ones possibly being more expensive but also taking up more space. The smaller ones can sometimes be more expensive (like a good ring or necklace) but you can definitely fit more of them. Now you have to decide what you want to keep around: that 1x1 ring you just picked up that may identify to be super expensive or that 1x3 sword that may just be an upgrade. You can't fit both! You may not find another merchant on the next level or you may die without that gold because you don't have enough potions!

Item size combined with item identification provided a means to say: this item is bigger and may be more powerful but this unidentified small item may wind up being more expensive. We report, you decide!

But the item meta has been changing every game since Diablo 1, namely: vendor access and access to item identification.

Identification in Diablo 1 always cost you 100 gold, either through the scroll or having Cain do it. In Diablo 2, you could do it in town for free or pay 100 gold out in the world in the form of scrolls. In both games, identified items could sell for way more than their unidentified cost but you also had to manage when you wanted to do it: either with a scroll or identify or a scroll of town portal.

In Diablo 3, that cost is gone. Now identification is just a few second wait and no longer an economic decision.

As far as getting back to town, remember that scrolls of town portal were just another item in Diablo 1 and 2. You could learn the spell in Diablo 1 but that costed mana. Going back to town in those two games was an active decision with (some) consequences, just like the roguelike that inspired Diablo 1. In Diablo 3, town portal was usable at any time with zero cost.

Also, the vendors were more useful in earlier games.

In Diablo 1, the item vendors were pretty crucial to your success. Adria provided a primary means to find skill books and stat boosts, along with a means to get weapons for the wizard. Griswold could sometimes provide weapon and armor upgrades. Since uniques and good rare items were a lot more uncommon than later games, the blue items were pretty good.

In Diablo 2, you could sometimes find upgrades off the vendors as well, though not as likely late-game as rares and uniques took over.

In Diablo 3, I think the item from the vendors were largely useless, which I think made the item game a bit unnecessary.

    Conclusion?

Without any interesting choices about what to keep or sell due to the lack of useful vendors, along with instant vendor access due to lack of limited town accessibility, along with lack of meaningful identification meta, the inventory space decisions made by the different item sizes just didn't feel as impactful in Diablo 3 as it did in Diablo 2 and certainly Diablo 1.

So, whether Item Tetris (tm) in Diablo 4 has any real impact I think depends on how the game handles vendor access and item identification.

    [Edit]

This doesn't mean Diablo 4 can't still have vendors that sell good items. It just means the reasons Item Tetris (tm) was not just a tack-on from older games and instead had a purpose to the game is now mostly missing.

I'm really new to D3 so I followed a starter guide online. I started Wizard and got Wand of Woh power, Leorics Crown and Ring. Now what build route do I go and which skills should I be using to get to 70 as quickly as possible?

Diablo 2 stuttering in fullscreen mode (even with -3dfx)

    Posted: 15 Mar 2020 08:23 AM PDT

It's especially noticable in the campfire. Turning vSync on and off does not help, GLIDE wrapper neither:

    https://gfycat.com/coolseveralasianporcupine

In windowed mode, everything runs smoothly. (In windowed mode with the GLIDE wrapper turned on though I get the same stuttering.)

Any idea how to fix this? Thanks a lot!

Do I need to do the main quest in a new season?

    Posted: 15 Mar 2020 07:20 AM PDT

Starting a new game on a new system. I'm playing season 20. Do I have to do all the chapters again? I've done it a million times before on a different system and I'd like to not do that boring ass shit again. Is there any reason to do it when I can just do bounties and grind?
