WD Mundunugu's Mechanics & Suggestions Posted: 09 Feb 2020 02:43 AM PST Hi all, since I've already covered Barb + Wiz I'd like to finish up my PTR write-ups with the new WD set now. I've also uploaded a PTR summary video on my channel if you feel like watching everything in one go. Let's start with mechanics: - WD 2pc (BBV follows you) works very well, it runs at lightning speed and you barely lose the effect even at 400%+ movespeed
- 4pc procs from Spirit Walk + Spirit Vessel, so you can proc your cheat death on purpose to save the cooldown if you like
- 6pc tooltip is straight up wrong. It says "Spirit Barrage deals damage equal to 50 times your Mana Regeneration/Second." while what it actually does is "Increase the damage of Spirit Barrage by a percentage equal to 50 times your Mana Regeneration/Second."
- 6pc multiplier is buffed by your sheet mana regen, this includes the passives Rush of Essence (very important) and Vision Quest (not usable with Ring of Emptiness), but also your mana rolls on items (typically quite weak compared to other rolls) and Empowered shrines (supports, get your Ahavarion ready!). It doesn't include "mana gained" for example from the Haunt rune. Typical values are ~64 (3200% dmg) with offhand, ~224 (11200% dmg) during GR dps situations (RoE passive), ~474 (23700% dmg) with BBV active (my calculations below were done at 220 and 470, respectively)
- Phantasms' damage is increased by pet damage multipliers (Mask of Jeram, Enforcer, but not Tasker and Theo), Manitou isn't
- Phantasm's base damage is done over 10 ticks, once every 0.5sec, for a total of 750% weapon damage (double duration with Gazing Demise -> 20 ticks in 10sec for 1500%). Its damage scales linearly with your attacks per second (not just increased attack speed, the actual value). Wearing the Barber, you get a x1.5 dps multiplier for your increased attack speed rolls, while it's just x1.4 for Voo's Juicer
- With Gazing Demise: the first tick is not amplified by the 150% boost (negligible in practice)
- Manitou does not scale with attack speed in any way. Its damage is done over 40 ticks in 20 seconds, or 220 ticks (I counted...) with Gazing Demise active (the offhand is a 3025% damage multiplier for that rune)
- Phantasm and Manitou both slow before their first hit, you won't lose any Bane of the Trapped value
- Since Ring of Emptiness is required in GRs: You absolutely have to use the Pestilence rune on Locust Swarm, there is no way to apply it to enough targets using any other rune, even with Creeping Death (there seems to be a hard cap of around 10 targets for other runes while Pestilence infects everything in 3-4sec). For Haunt, you usually want to use the rune for +1 spirit (+ belt for a total of 3, but Fetish belt works for survival, too)
- During the rift, most of your damage (80-90%) will come from Phantasms, on the RG it will be almost reversed, but preferably you should still try to keep them on top of the RG
- The Barber explosions take into account the damage you would have actually done on that specific tick, i.e. all dynamic multipliers (mana regen, Oculus, CoE, ...) are calculated into the accumulated damage and the explosion deals a fixed value based on that (so stand in Oculus before they pop, not necessarily when they pop)
- Area damage procs even while accumulating with the Barber but is not calculated into the explosion, so it's almost negligible (and since the build is laggy as hell, should be avoided at all costs in groups)
- Manitou will pop the Barber explosion when the target is "ready to die", i.e. when enough damage has been accumulated to oneshot it (only on single target, it also pops on target swaps). Phantasms will pop automatically after their duration or when you replace them manually
- When you die, Manitou will still explode, Phantasms will just disappear
- The build benefits greatly from group play, much more than most other builds. Reasons are its squishiness, bad grouping ability and Pain Enhancer triple dipping through big density + Rush of Essence + Phantasm damage scaling, so keep in mind that this is mainly a high-end 4man build and will be balanced around that more than solo
- Most of your augments are probably going to be Str/Dex for armor just to survive
Feedback: - Compared to Wiz and Barb, the set actually feels complete, fun to play and mostly ready (more on that below) to release. Which is why I assume not much will change for WD anymore, as additional development is most likely going to be focused on the other two classes instead, they need a lot of work. Although, I do have to repeat my criticism for the Wiz set here: 95% same skills / items / playstyle as the LoD version of the build, which is very sad and a big missed opportunity for potentially other cool builds that could be done with a new WD set
- Build looks awesome visually, Manitou with 11 projectiles per second is badass. Everything is blue. I love it. T16 WD is actually competitive now, too
- The set is extremely squishy compared to the LoD counterpart, with only a little more damage. Both setups should be able to reach ~GR140 in solo at high paragon though, with the set probably slightly ahead (especially on very high-end season, since there is a possible Voo's Juicer setup you can't do on ns)
- Realistically, if the set releases as is, the way you play it would be: set early season, LoD once you acquire (almost) all items as good ancients, then back to set for high-end pushing. Seems odd and forces people to farm augments twice
- With that being said, I would try to give the set some more flavor: e.g. give the 2pc BBV all runes (5% health regen, 20% dmg reduction, 15% additive damage, 60sec duration, summon Zombie Dogs on kill to tank for you). It gives a little bit of everything and closes the gap between "BBV up" vs. "BBV down", to the point where you could actually decide to just roll more CDR or take Grave Injustice for permanent uptime. Obviously, we'd have to nerf the 6pc set a bit then, I'd say to 35 instead of 50. Nice side effects are that it helps with the complaints about squishiness and support WD becomes a bit better as well
- I also think the 4pc is lacking something that makes it feel cool and special. Since this set is mainly about the mana/spirit/blue theme, why not tie it into the 4pc a little more to give the set some identity? For example, in addition to damage reduction, we could have "After you regenerate at least 400 mana while in the spirit realm, increase the duration of your Spirit Walk to double the original value and reduce damage taken by 50% for the next 30 seconds". Also helps with toughness issues. 6pc could have an added line like "This effect is doubled while in the spirit realm." Obviously, damage would probably have to be nerfed a bit more, maybe to 25-30 instead of 50 multiplier on 6pc (including the BBV change above)
- This will be meaningless for the current patch, as there are no real supporting legendaries for these, but I would recommend to include all Decay skills instead of only Spirit Barrage in the 6pc damage multiplier. That way there is some room for future buffs to Zombie Bears, Acid Cloud, ... when WD needs another update
- The above were just some random ideas to make the set a bit different from LoD and I wouldn't be unhappy if nothing of that happens, but the most pressing issue really are the lags. We already know it from old Spirit Barrage, and this will be no different: it's one of the most laggy builds in the game, and after many seasons of almost lag-free Bazooka, it will be a huge turn-off for a good amount of players to realize we have a new meta with cool new sets but we are back to lagging in every pull of more than 20 monsters. Something NEEDS to be done about that before release. I saw sVr lag out even in solo pushing (to be fair, it's PTR, but still)
- Since Manitou is such a cool rune visually and also the core of the WD's T16 builds now, I would try to avoid touching it. Instead, we could look at Phantasm and change their behavior. Right now they tick once every 0.5seconds, I think this could easily be delayed to once every second, effectively reducing the number of ticks by half. Could even make it two seconds to keep the total number of ticks constant when using Gazing Demise
- Alternatively, we could break the Ring of Emptiness interactions entirely by going all in on the pet scaling, since pets don't benefit from this effect. Not only are we creating tons of damage instances from Phantasms + Manitou, but we also have THREE dot effects (Haunt, Locust, PE) going on on every target at all times. Phantasms are in a weird spot in the way that they benefit from almost everything pet related, so actually considering the pets would kill Ring of Emptiness, freeing up two extra skill slots, one of which would be a generator with Vision Quest passive, and another (perhaps Horrify / Mass Confusion) to apply some other effects that could be tied into the set's gameplay. Obviously, this would kill the LoD build and would require heavy rebalancing of the entire set, but it could be a great way to actually create something new
- Added side effect of all that: Manitou is still not a pet and thus could produce a pretty solid RGK because you can still do Ring of Emptiness shenanigans etc.

If or when they will do a tv series or web series Posted: 09 Feb 2020 08:09 PM PST I was watching The Witcher on Netflix, in an episode there was some Assassins Creed style look-a-like character with his pet or familiar that also looked like and reminded me of the hybrid insect arachnoid spider bug or whatever pet in Diablo 3 that picked up gold for you... After searching and reading https://www.reddit.com/r/Diablo/comments/9u39u2/didnt_even_mention_diablo_netflix_tvseries_btw/ and https://www.reddit.com/r/Diablo/comments/9ifmoq/looks_like_diablos_getting_a_kiddy_cartoon_tv/ Blizzard should make or co-produce or get inspired by The Witcher Netflix series, maybe different parts or mini-seasons between 5 and 10 episodes each, or the usual idea like Marvel's Defenders or Avengers or Justice League: a few episodes for the story of each class, barbarian, monk, wizard etc. and how they joined to fight together... If animated computer graphics cgi version, please make it same style as the cinematics or intro trailer of D4, or Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust, or maybe wait and see how Magic The Gathering will be animated... submitted by /u/ffilou6 [link] [comments] |

Build idea. Some questions Posted: 09 Feb 2020 01:41 PM PST Being ever so bored with this game and mostly with playing a Wizard, I decided to take a step away from solo pushing. Instead, I'm trying to push with builds that are bad or "fun" as I'd like to call it. I stumbled upon a Primal Stormshield so decided to build myself a Wizard with a shield. The question I have: I'm thinking LoD is my best option to get enough damage multipliers. I'm in doubt whether I should go for an Arcane Orb build or instead focus on Channeling with ET or Meteor. Or perhaps something else? What do you think? submitted by /u/Verificus [link] [comments] |

Cosmetic items for Diablo 3 on PS4 being sold on Ebay Posted: 09 Feb 2020 01:05 PM PST Greetings Diablo 3 fans, I was browsing Ebay for a sealed copy of the D3 collectors edition and found a number of people selling cosmetic wings and pets for the PS4 version of D3 and I'm curious about whether or not these sellers are scams and if one could get banned for buying cosmetic items like this. -Does anyone have any experience with or insight into this? submitted by /u/MrMittensDMB [link] [comments] |

What is the ideal amount of runs when comparing GRs for best xp/hour? Posted: 08 Feb 2020 10:23 PM PST Let's say I'm comparing the xp/hour of GR 109 vs GR 110. I need to run both GRs a few times and use the average time of both when comparing, but how many runs are enough to get a precise average, considering the variance in map/mob types? Currently I do 5 runs per GR and average the time based on that, but variance is still evident, considering the time differs by +/- 1 min sometimes, so I was thinking about using 10 runs. submitted by /u/hikiflow [link] [comments] |
D3 - Console Characters Added to Battle.net/PC Account Posted: 09 Feb 2020 12:48 AM PST Did I miss an announcement a while back where blizzard was adding a copy of your console characters to your battle.net account? Logged into my copy of the PC version of the game today for the first time in a loooong time and was surprised to see a large number of characters on there that I had never made... on PC. I did have those characters on either PS3 or Xbox One, but never PC. Some of the characters had more play time on them than I have ever put in on every PC character combined. What's going on here? How did this happen? I demand to speak to someone's manager! (Yes, I had both consoles' accounts linked to my battle.net account, if that matters) ETA Also have Authenticator on my account and have since before D3 came out. ETA2 Some of the character names are absolutely names I have used in other games, but some are names I have never used because I wasn't aware of them. One demon hunter in specific uses a name that my spouse was using on our PS3. The only reason we discovered this whole issue is because I downloaded the PC version again just to have them try playing on a PC since they've only ever played on console. I absolutely do have a terrible memory and can certainly make sense of some of the characters being ones I rolled without remembering due to how long it's been since I've played, but as I say, there's just no way I created others and the SO has never played on PC until the last 24 hours. submitted by /u/LowestKey [link] [comments] |
