I have climbed the mountain. I have punched a Demon. I have cheesed my way through challenges and foes alike. The Grind was crazy, the ability strat build was crazier.

[D2R] Pretend, sorc for whatever reason isn't available as your first char when D2R comes out. Which class do you pick?

Feel free to elaborate on which one you picked and why!

What is your most desired QoL enhancement in D2R (that hasn't been mentioned)?

    Posted: 21 Jul 2021 05:37 AM PDT

For me, it would be streamlined inventory management. I'm a hoarder, especially of gems and runes, and these can be a huge pain to deal with if you have a big stockpile that you need to cube up. I'd love to see some hotkeys introduced to move items quickly from stash to inventory, i.e. shift right click to move item to/from stash, ctrl-right click to drop item, etc.

[D2] ladder reset teams are fun

    Posted: 21 Jul 2021 08:14 PM PDT

Hi - cool to see so many people excited about D2R. I just wanted to add some 2c by encouraging people to find 7 pals and get on voice comms to hack out release night together. For me it's the most fun part about the game (each ladder reset) as it adds an additional layer to the game in terms of optimizing your team composition, strategy, and competition to see how fast your team can down hell baal

Controller needs an option to dictate spell range, instead of having only a fixed range.

    Posted: 21 Jul 2021 04:14 PM PDT

So I've played Diablo 2 on M&K most of the time, but I've also played on the Steam Controller and really enjoyed it. With the upcoming release of D2R, I'm going to give regular controller a try as it looks to be well implemented. I'm sure a few others will try controller on PC as well. Then a significant amount of players will have to use controller if they're playing with any of the consoles. From what's been show it looks like controller will work pretty well overall, while M&K will surely remain the best option.

But there's one major flaw that we've seen with controller. This is that when casting a ranged spell, you have a fixed range of which you can cast that spell. As we've seen in early game play, things such as teleport can only be cast at a medium range. While with a mouse you can teleport to the very edge of the screen, which really helps when farming or even dueling in PvP.

I think this could be easily fixed by simply allowing a way to alter the range of the spell. I noticed that the right analog stick isn't assigned for anything while in-game. It does offer a wheel of emotes, but that requires you to first click R3 before selecting. This seems like a large area of unused real estate that should really be taken into consideration to make things a little better for controller users. An example of how this could work, would be to use this right stick to alter the range of your ranged spells. There could be a varied range depending on how far you move the stick. Or there could even be an option to aim spells with the right stick all together, similar to how a twin-stick shooter works.

The developers could already be changing how spell casting works at range. But from what we've seen in its current state, the fixed range will largely hinder controller users. Even being able to alter the range of these spells within a small area of variance would significantly improve targeting. I'm not saying controller is a priority over M&K, as the game was born to be played with M&K. But with so many people who will be playing on computer AND console, or just strictly on console, the core mechanic of aiming should see at least a little improvement. I think the team at Vicarious Visions is doing a great job and I'm sure they're quite busy as we approach full release. Hopefully they can make this change to some degree.

Example of casting limitations on controller (teleport):

D2: Stat threshold & gears question

    Posted: 21 Jul 2021 07:43 PM PDT

    Hey guys.

A lot of guides say that when it comes to stat, it's basically 'Ignore Energy; Strength and Dexterity only for equipping best gear and max block; The rest are on Vitality'

Now here's the question: Naturally, physical classes and spellcaster classes differ in equipment needs. So what's the threshold of base 'best gear' for magical classes? Elite armors found in Hell difficulty require around 100 STR and upwards. Do spellcasters (Like Necro and Sorc) REALLY need to wear something like Elite Ancient Armor (Sacred Plate), let alone Elite Unique armors?

So how many STR are actually ideal for spellcasters? Some even say 60 is already 'no good'...

    Thanks.

    A Few Worries About D2R

    Posted: 21 Jul 2021 07:20 PM PDT

Number one, Will loot still be competitive or would it be generated for each person? How are you going to handle all the item grabber (pickit) mods? What about map hacks? What about bots? I read that our old character carry over. What about all the dupped items automatically in game at launch ruining the trade economy? I mean I have high level characters myself and would personally like to see just a clean slate at launch for this.

    Is there a bug?

    Posted: 21 Jul 2021 02:52 AM PDT

Why in D2R, Cold Mastery can directly act on monsters with ice resistance greater than 100? In the original version, only "Conviction Aura" or "lower resist" can reduce the ice resistance to below 100. In this case, Cold Mastery will take effect and continue to reduce ice resistance.

Diablo 2: Paladins with 2 handed weapons?

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 10:44 PM PDT

    Hey guys.

First, a little confession. My other WRPG favorite back in the days (and still is today) is the Baldur's Gate series. In those games, I love playing as the Paladin and eventually getting my hand of the ultimate 2-handed sword only for Paladins, the Holy Avenger.

That... leaked into my perspective on Diablo series. So I know that D2 Paladin has a lot of shield-based skills, and most of his 'Skill Up' items are either scepters or 'Paladin shields', but I end up just using the 2 handed swords anyway.

I'm mostly a Single Player only guy, but some questions do pop up to me:

    1. What kind of build do you think is best for a 2H Paladin? In between Zealot, Avenger or Charger, I'd like to know which one's most optimal.

    2. How is 2H Paladin seen in online meta? A joke? Or 'uncommon, but viable with proper equipment'?

    Thanks!

Diablo 3: Xbox Console Vs PC what a difference in gameplay

    Posted: 21 Jul 2021 01:26 AM PDT

I've not really played the pc version of D3 since the first expansion was released as had switched to console version.

I recently retried the pc version and thought what a difference there is in gameplay between the two versions.

On PC noticed you can use skills 1-4 even when channelling q skill with the right button, but on console 99% of the time you have to stop channelling to select other skills.

I think both have their good points and bad in regards to salvaging, inventory, crafting and playability and think will be playing on both platforms moving forward.

I've already pre-ordered D2 (on console) and will pre-order D4 but can't decide if to just get the console version or both.

Which character should I pick if I want mainly ranged attack and can save itself well when being surrounded for Resurrected even if it means going to temporary melee for that?

    Posted: 21 Jul 2021 06:02 AM PDT

In majority of RPG I've played, archer seems to be the ranged and mage too but they get weaker when surrounded or don't really have very good option against that usually brute forcing their way and a bind usually put them dangerously low or death and warrior on the other hand seems to be good at dealing with being surrounded but then again their ranged is mediocre or mostly non existent. It doesn't have be as excellent or overpowered for handling both situation but it needs to be able to handle both without being weak to either. Maybe the mages and archer might be what I am looking for in this game so if it fits the criteria that would be an option as well as I mean that from other games perspective and may not apply to Resurrected.

    change: added sentence.

Friendly fire in D4 yes or no?

    Posted: 21 Jul 2021 12:37 PM PDT

I think it would be interesting way for bringing more PvP and pve tactics into the game as well as equalising single player vs group play and nerfing aoe's compared to single target melee attacks. What do you think?
