It's crazy how that phrase is cemented into Diablo's legacy now.

Here is the reddit post about it.

I found a hidden build for Season 22! It's a Frozen Orb build with a unique Deathwish mechanic.

The Scrimshaw buff is a welcome return for Zombie Bears, but maybe something along these lines could help propel Z Charger into an actual competitive option (and give a useless Mojo a role)

Path of Diablo or Median XL?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2020 12:36 PM PDT

Looking to start D2 again and enjoy some of the modded content. I've never played POD, and last played median XL 3-4 years ago, maybe more.

Looking for suggestions. Anyone played both? Which did you prefer?

Edit: or any other diablo 2 mods / remakes etc etc. Open to suggestions!

Is Diablo 4 going to have PVP?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2020 07:49 AM PDT

I think PVP is the only thing that would sell D4 for me, it doesn't have to be balanced or fair at all, I just want to be able to hop into a PVP game and have some chaotic fun

    Diablo IV skills concept

    Posted: 02 Oct 2020 08:33 AM PDT

when building a character, you should be given control over the behavior of a skill.

Skills would have upgrade nodes around them that increase certain components of the skill, in addition to skill ranks like we see with passive skills.

    Example:

    Blizzard.

Deals 25-100 damage per projectile, for 5 seconds, chills enemies, 10% chance to freeze on hit.

Each Skill rank increases damage, duration, and freeze chance by 20% (so 2% chance to freeze on hit per rank. Do not check my math on this, nerds)

Three upgrade nodes would be available to further increase the duration, chance to freeze, or damage. Each upgrade node would have a rank as well.

Then there is a unique bonus for maxing each upgrade. e.g., maxing damage node gives a chance for frozen enemies to explode on death and deal AoE damage, maxing duration would freeze the ground where Blizzard was cast and chill monster that walk on it, and maxing chance to freeze would blind enemies caught in the Blizzard for a few seconds so they couldn't attack.

The idea is to give the player the option to to turn Blizzard into a main DPS skill, or a crowd control spell, depending on what they choose to do.

What's the history behind "The Stone of Jordan"? Who/What is Jordan?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2020 01:33 AM PDT

    Hello,

I recently started thinking about one of the most iconic items "The Stone of Jordan".

Most of the items are named after ingame characters or real life people. E.g. Ormus' Robes, Schaefer's Hammer, etc.

But what's the story of "The Stone of Jordan"?

My only small critisism of the D4 art style: Still a few too cartoony skills/effects (not trying to be rude)

    Posted: 02 Oct 2020 12:42 AM PDT

Disclaimer: First I want to say that I am VERY happy with the D4 art style in general, and this entire post is a bit nitpicking. This is my feedback as an artist:

    https://bnetcmsus-a.akamaihd.net/cms/gallery/BHGO5T5PWCUJ1601312629742.gif

Not a huge fan of PoE in general, but If you look at PoE, I think that game did the skills and effects in a way more fitting style for that game. Not saying it should be like that, but in D4 now, a FEW skills/effects looks more like D3/cartoony to be honest. And I don't want it to go more in that direction.

Like the link above, the meteor is a cartoony rock that falls down, and little stones bouncing off the ground in a cartoony way. Also barb had some skills that were very colorful/cartoony like shouts and leap-attack iirc.

Also the whole highlighting of monsters when they are hit, looks very cartoony actually.

I realize that none of this is final, but it is now we should give the feedback if others agree.

Also the skill icons in the UI are a bit rainbow-like together, but that is a minor detail to me.

I fear that all the colorful skills together will create some of that D3-like end game where the effects doesn't fit together, and just clutter the screen instead of looking awesome. D2 is a good example of how they look well together. Not saying they should avoid color, but just not like rainbows. Maybe stick more to sorceress where ice/fire obviously should stick out in color.

I also fear that a more cartoony art style will take out the horror and immersion completely from the game. They should go for serious/scary style, like in the cinematic and the rest of the game, which is spot on.

    EDIT: Typos

EDIT 2: Also FEW of the skill animations/movement of the skills have too much ease-in and out, and should maybe be faster and "destructive".

[IDEA] The new skill tree should start out dark. The blood should be interactive and flow/connect the different skills you have chosen ALA the Dead By Daylight blood web. Thoughts?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2020 02:50 PM PDT

For reference, here is the Dead By Daylight blood web. Whenever you allocate points, the blood flows to the talent/item you selected.

Here is a video example of the blood web.

Now imagine the Diablo 4 skill tree doing that.

It would look really cool and help players get a clear idea of what skills they have chosen. If not dark, then maybe a more natural looking color. If anybody is interested in creating a mock up, let me know.

Searching for Diablo 2 BASE GAME resolution mod help

    Posted: 02 Oct 2020 08:50 AM PDT

I was silly and purchased only the Diablo 2 base game and not along with LOD. Not being able to buy LOD for a while now... What is a mod that would work to give better resolution? Maybe an HD mod? Can't seem to find any mods for base game, they all require LOD.

Or how to get Diablo 2 Fullscreen, drawing size etc.

    Thanks :(

    Skilltree modifiers

    Posted: 02 Oct 2020 07:06 AM PDT

    Skilltree modifiers

Many voices seem to be disappointed or at least not fully satisfied with the new skilltree posted by Blizz. It looks "great" at the first glance but it lacks customization when you really think about it.

Knowing that Blizz will most likely not completely go nuts like PoE or Last Epoch and make an entire skilltree for every single skill, i tried coming up with a not so different alternative that could give players a lot of agency over their builds.

    https://preview.redd.it/4zowhyb8dqq51.jpg?width=443&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1bed4996bb4b85f9abd29e4887ca2a65649f533f

Obviously it would require Blizz to think of a few more skill modifiers to make it happen. 5 or at least 3 for each skill. The modifiers would not be part of the "way" through that tree but rather be parts of the active skills. Players can possibly choose all available modifiers for a skill but with increased costs since it gives you a lot of power to add multiple modifiers to a single skill. While the first modifier would only cost you 1 skillpoint, the second would cost 3, the third 5, etc. That way, players could actively choose to truly spec into a single skill or try to keep balance over all of their skills. Spending points on modifiers would probably move you further in the current branch of the skill tree to compensate for staying with a single skill, so you won't miss out too many passive points.

That system would of course require very precise balancing. But i think it would be a lot of fun for everyone to choose their own gameplay and create very individual characters.

Thinking about reading the Diablo books/novels - where to start? Advice pls

    Posted: 02 Oct 2020 12:49 AM PDT

As per the title really. I've been a fan of Diablo for a long time, and think the lore is fascinating. I didn't start the games until OG D2 (I've never played D1), but have put a tonne of hours into that and D3, and am very very excited for D4. I've watched some Rhykker videos where he's telling the tales, and its a really cool listen. But keen to get into the books/novels. I did a quick wikipedia search and it showed quite a long list of books. Does anyone know where the best place to start is? The obvious answer would be - with the first one (Demonsbane?), but I was discouraged recently when I bought one of the original Metro series books to read - and it was so slow and a slog to read - i sort of gave up. Are the Diablo novels the same? Is there an advised place to start which sort of integrates with the game stories too? Any advise appreciated. Cheers
