Original Diablo deserves a remaster, hear me out or if you will - stay a while and listen...

If you asked me three days ago what I thought about hack and slash games like Diablo id probably tell you they're not my cup of tea. I played torchlight twice and could never get in to it properly and yet few days ago I gave OG Diablo a spin and it sucked me in,big time. In fact so much so that I'm on my second run with my character.

Once I got used to somewhat clunky gameplay and outdated visuals the rest was just brilliant. This game is not only a landmark in gaming, its a landmark for the series as well. It's the first chapter in the story,it set the mood with it's soundtrack and horror vibe that still resonates with people today, you don't leave art like this on the side of the road and I don't care what anyone says but it deserves a remaster. There's just no other game like it,not even Diablo II and that's not a dig against DII but a testament to the uniqueness of the original Diablo.

In comparison with its sequel it's rather short and "simple" if you will, but it works. There's no doubt in my mind that with few QoL improvements and visual overhaul the game would still attract new players, besides afaik Blizzard merged with Vicarious Visions and after D2R they should def remaster the first game (that thing they did in D3 doesn't count).

Do you think it's possible for a demon to become an angel?

    Posted: 07 Jun 2021 07:33 AM PDT

Diablo has shown us that angels are not immune to the corruption of the Burning Hells. And we have Izual and Malthael to thank for that. But while Malthael managed to find some way to maintain his status as an angel, Izual became a demon of the Burning Hells. But this leads me to ponder something. If angels can go bad or become demons, can the reverse happen to demons? Are demons not above the purity of the High Heavens? Under certain circumstances, can a demon turn good, or even become an angel? I think this would be a story goldmine. So many things that could come out of it.

    Diablo lore

    Posted: 07 Jun 2021 06:02 AM PDT

    Sup.

Im wondering about the lore of Diablo.

Are there physical maps (of Sanctuary), books, pictures, manuals or something in between to explore? If so, are they accessible by buying a certain version of the games, like, are they included somewhere? Or can I buy them separately?

Also, is there any chance that I can listen to the lore somehow? Like an audiobook? Or can I watch a movie about the lore? (Not the cinematics from the games)

If you could create new classes, what would they be like and what would there lore be?

    Posted: 07 Jun 2021 08:00 AM PDT

    Here's something I created.

    Ranger

Lore: Rangers are among the most unusual of Sanctuary's inhabitants. They are wandering nomads who travel across Sanctuary, living in the wild, hunting and gathering, and tend to shun "civilized" life. Ranger clans all loom out for each other, raise their children, and have close bonds with eachother. They also share cordial relationships with Barbarians, Demon Hunters, Druids, Necromancer's, and other outcasts of Sanctuary.

Rangers are rarely seen in civilization, but they are relatively easy to identify if they choose to be seen. Rangers are usually shorter then most other humans, yet taller then humans with dwarfism. Most rangers are usually only only 5 feet tall, some on the taller end of the 4 foot scale. They also have a tendency to appear younger then they are. It's easy to mistake a ranger in his or her 30's, as a teenager. Males rarely have facial hair. This unique size and appearance believed to be a combination of living in the wild, minimal diets, and nature magic. To add more manuveribility, rangers wear very minimal, if any armor. A typical ranger attire includes a wool or cotton shirt and pants, a trenchcoat, or a hooded cape.

In terms of rangers themselves, they are not the most social people in Sanctuary. Like the classes they have good relationships with, their not very comfortable around "the norm". They can be friendly when they need to be, and have strong bonds of family and friends with those in their clans. But their not good with most people. Like druids, they have close bonds with wild animals, and can even get animals in the wild to fight for them.

In terms of gameplay, I'd imagine that the Ranger would be a hybrid of demon hunters and druids. They are better at long range and are armed with crossbows, bows and arrows, and other useful long range equipment. Up close, they are deadly, but their close range attacks are typically hit and run style. They can only carry small or medium length swords and daggers. But to keep their enemies at arms length, Rangers also have the ability to command beasts in the wild. But this isn't like the Witch Doctor or Necromancer, you can't summon a beast. You need to find a wild beast, and use a skill that will cause it to fight for you. You can also give it buffs similar to some druid spells.

In terms of character, I'd imagine that rangers could be friendly, but also be socially awkward and sometimes have difficulty trusting people. I also thought a running joke throughout a Ranger playthrough would be that everyone mistakes you for being a teenager, when actually you're 36.

What about you? What class would you make?

    FPS limiter D3

    Posted: 07 Jun 2021 08:41 AM PDT

I recently started playing D3 again. I noticed one thing - whenever I limit foreground FPS, it drops the FPS to about half of the limiter. I want to play on constant 130-150, but when I limit it to 150, it gives me only 70ish. When i limit to 200, i get 90ish. When I remove limiter, i get 200+ (max graphics). I dont want it that high because my monitor is 144Hz and GPU fans would make too much unnecessary noise that they wouldnt make at 150 FPS. PC specs: i5 9600KF, RTX 2070S, 16GB RAM, M2 SSD. Any advice?

Think it would be fun 4 or future games could explored the realm of balance?

    Posted: 07 Jun 2021 07:28 AM PDT

Throughout the Eternal Conflict, Angels and Demons alike have created worlds of pure light and darkness. But none of them lasted, Sanctuary has. This has lead me to the theory that the Eternal Conflict is necessary for Sanctuary's survival. Because if Sanctuary has elements of light and heaven, and darkness and hell, then in some ways, we are very lucky to have the Seven Evils, and very lucky to have the Angiris Council. Or at least, have angels and demons, and heaven and hell. If any of them left the picture, I fear Sanctuary would wither and die, just like the worlds that angels and demons created without the other's aid.
